Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This will be the most $$ I have spent on a car in a long time. (all at once that is)... Man I hope this is worth it. They arrive on Friday... (hopefully...if UPS pulls its head of its...well, you know.) Ordered a set of Brey-Kause lowering brackets too... I'll update the mod thread with a DIY install.

POST 2Original post

Chad, Those are very nice seats. What is the weight loss?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Close to 50# total, I believe. Hope it's worth it... C.

POST 4Original post

Cool, also how much lower / closer to the floor are these seats? (I wouldn't mind getting my stock seats fitting an inch lower....)

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4917327

I'll post some measurements and info when I install... C.

POST 6Original post

Chad buy those alu pedals from ebay and show us how to install them =)

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 4917431

Do a search on the pedals - a group of us posted installation guides when Dutchie arranged the group buy earlier this year.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 4917443

I did search could find any installation with pictures

POST 9Original post

Chad, Good looking seats. What price range? PM me if you like. Thanks. Andy T

POST 11Original post

You're going to love them. Just wait until you feel how heavy the stock lumps are when you take them out. The only big neg about the GT3 seats (that I have found) is that they ruin your side vision for lane changes.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 4917531

Yep - with the BK brackets, they will be great. C.

Bought them through the Suncoast special deal... C.

Noby...they are actually VERY easy to install. C.

Maybe, I just looked at it this summer and saw that I had to drill some and let it be because of that as I dont know where to drill etc...

Here's my post (with photos): https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...&postcount=241 Here's the entire thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...aluminum+pedal that contains other tips and photos. cdodkin did a particularly nice job in his set of instructions in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...boxster+pedals good luck! Post in the threads if you have questions and I'm sure any one of us will be able to help.

POST 17Original post

Did he mount the alu on the existing ones? hmm https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...&postcount=241

POST 18Original post

Nice seats Chad. Nice pedals Wellardmac. Seems as though there is a never- ending list of improvements with this forum, thanks a lot.

POST 19Original post

Chad, do I get a finder's fee for letting you know they were on sale J/K, can't wait to see them installed with pics, and I too am intereseted in the weight difference. So please weigh the new seat(s) and weigh your old ones. Will be doing this mod probably in 2009 as I want to see the new 997 GT3 seats, and I will hopefully see them at the International Auto Show in San Jose on 1/13/08.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 4917586

yes, take off the rubber covers (on the clutch and gas pedals) and install right over the top.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 4917587

Thanks. The pedals are an easy mod and look sooo much better than the stock ones - go for it, you will not regret it... well, despite the contortions you'll have to go through to get to the smaller pedals.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 4917550

then if you dont mind the fixed back (limited getting in the back, but for kids its fine)... its one of the best performance mod Ive done

POST 23Original post

NOBY - the aluminum pedals were very eash to install, but I thought they would look better thatn they did!

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 4917614

You mean clutch and brake not the gaspdal? I remember when I did try to install this pedal and took the rubber of the brake and clutch it was nothing under it, just the pedal and air room , nothing to bolt on? Will check it tomorrow again tho.

I've seen and heard that the new 997 GT2 seats fold but still offer the lateral support, and shoulder harness openings. In fact I found a link ( http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...1.html#index_1 ) to some information and here is a picture from that article: Of course I am not sure how expensive these are but factory Porsche bucket seats with folding backs is a great thing to see finally.

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 4917667

TIM, I disagree. They look GREAT! Nice work.

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 4917677

Sorry, you're correct - clutch and brake. You have to drill through the pedals. The clutch is plastic and easy to drill through. The brake is metal and requires a little more patience.

POST 28Original post

Quotes source post: 4917537

The other big neg for me would be that there doesn't appear to be any way to access the rear seat area. Am I missing something? EDIT: I should have read the whole thread...looks like there's no way to fold them.

POST 29Original post

NOBY - as Wayne said above ^ you will need to remove the rubber cover on the brake and clutch pedals. Align the aluminum pedal where you want it and then use a spring clamp to hold the pedal in place. Then you can either mark the plastic.metal pedal through the aluminum pedal hole or just drill the hole with the aluminum pedal in place. Use a sharp titainium drill bit, especially for the brake pedal because it is metal. It should take you about 20 seconds or so to drill each hole in the brake pedal. The clutch is plastic and will take about 5 seconds to drill each hole. For the foot rest pedal and gas pedals, just mount the aluminum pedals on top of the OEM pedals by screwing into the rubber/plastic OEM pedals.

POST 30Original post

Huge weight loss by switching to GT3 seats. My car came with fully electric sport seats that weighed a ton. Easily a 60lb reduction right there! They're a one piece shell, so access to the back is very limited. But they are must have for track work, as they hold you in place very well around the turns. If you think they're expensive, go price the ones for the 7GT3 (hint: 3x the price!).
