Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

No affiliation, but I use several of their products, most notably:
Leading evidence: 'Use several of their products, most notably' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use more gentle compounds' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
1) It allows you to use more gentle compounds on your car because it does the elbow work for you.

However, I chose to use products from different manufacturers for various uses.

You have to use their wax and polish, but it is great stuff.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well I got some nice gifts including a set of aluminum pedals
. The big surprise and top gift came from my son (16) who made a metal cut out of my car in his metal shop via a plasma cutter
.
Hope you all had a good Christmas!
That's cool!
Surprisingly, with the exception of the sport design wheels that I bought a few weeks ago I didn't get any Porsche related gifts this year.
LOL...
Thanks guys
He is currently learning to drive, has a drivers permit (help me).
He was as excited as I was when we bought it. Gets that look in his eyes when we walk by the car, a bit scary, kind of like this
I got $150 worth of Griots Garage gift certificates and an in-line water softener with filter (
http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...rrivals&page=1
)
Think I will buy this Orbital set... (
http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...sealant+kit.do
)... does anybody have experience with this?
LS - neat gift. As a 'temporary" substitute for my REAL Christmas present, my daughter got me some micro fiber towels, some car detergent, and some glass/detailing mocro fiber towels.
She is painting a pic of my 996 so I can remember what it looks like after I sell it. She is a pretty good artist, and I can't wait to see it. That is going to be my REAL Christmas present.
I have the Porter Cable version and I love it! 1) It allows you to use more gentle compounds on your car because it does the elbow work for you. 2) Makes detailing the paint easier, so you tend to do it more often. 3) The random orbit helps ensure that amateurs (like me) don't swirl the paint.
There used to be a great video on the Meguiars's website that showed how to use it. Not sure if it is still there.
I got a B&M SSK (which I already installed) and a new sport shift **** to go with it.
I have it, and like it so much my brother and I got one for my dad last year for Christmas. You have to use their wax and polish, but it is great stuff.
No affiliation, but I use several of their products, most notably:
1. Wax and Polish (with orbital)
2. Clay and Speed Shine (Clay before every wax - Speed Shine is the lubricant and great painted surface cleaner as well)
3. Spray on wax (after every wash)
4. Interior cleaner - great in the house also
5. Leather conditioner
6. Drying microfiber waffle towel
I buy speed shine, interior cleaner, and spray on wax by the gallon, they are all excellent. I also just finished my garage with their garage floor paint.
I have experience with many of their products, pm me if interested in more detail.
Dutchie, I would not get the "package deal" unless it contains all products I have used or would want to use. You could be getting products you don't like and the "deal" isn't good it you don't use the products.
I bought a Porter Cable dual action polisher 2-1/2 years ago and really like it. However, I chose to use products from different manufacturers for various uses. The polisher will do exactly what DallasC4S stated above.
If you need more info you can check out Autogeek.net or autopia-carcare.com. Both sites have a "How to..." video with a D/A polisher. Also, here is a link to a thread I started after I did my first complete detail with the PC polisher.

Thanks for the report--I have not had enough nerve to try an orbital yet, but with a report like this I think I will. (PS: That spray on wax after wash is really a nice touch--works better than I ever expected.)
Thanks, hope it helped. The orbitals mentioned above are random orbitals, it's the straight orbitals which should be avoided unless you are an absolute expert (even then, I would stay away). These straight orbitals can very easily heat up and burn the paint/finish. I do not have experience with the PC model, but the Griots model, used with their pads/wax will NOT heat and cause finish damage.
I got a new wallet... ironic since the wallet has been empty since I've owned the Porsche.
j/k
No porsche related items for me as this is my first year owning the C4S and 944.
