Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just completed my semi-annual full-on detail of my '01 cab and am amazed at the number of rock pits the hood collects. So what's the preference.........get a bra or just put up with it?

POST 2Original post

They add character. A bra does not...IMO. If you want a concourse car then that is a different story. I use the Lanka paint repair on the pits each year and it works pretty good.

POST 3Original post

as long as you can't see it from >5ft, i don't even bother with it. even less so when i consider that 90% of the time i'm around my car it's moving so its even harder to see

POST 4Original post

since you already have a bunch, just touch up and get a respray when due. on a new car, get a clear bra.

POST 5Original post

rock chips are part of having a 996. Recently had my bumper and and hood resprayed (black 01 996c2) due to a mishap with a garage attendant. While it does look much better, which would argue fora respray, within 10K miles the chips will be back. Ross

POST 6Original post

10k? try 1k! if you don't want rock chips, get the bumper resprayed then lock your car up in the garage. these people come from the same camp as the ones who put masking tape covering the entire bumper at a DE event, including the headlamps.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looks like the "put up with it" school of thought is unanimous. I've never put a bra on a car and I have to admit I am very leary, having seen paint damage from hood bras that is just as bad as the rock pits.

POST 8Original post

Clear 3m bra. You won't even notice it on your car and it won't harm your paint. The leather ones trap dust and dirt in-between and cause paint damage. The 3m's are just like a big clear sticker. I wouldn't try to do it yourself though.
