Fpb, do you think a smaller piece of angle iron can be used safely?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone!
Im new to the forum and the porsche world. I own a `03 996 carrera with about 65000 miles.
I will soon be replacing the clutch and the IMS bearing. I like to do everything myself and I have a 2 post lift at home so that makes things a lot easier. Looking at the service manual and several internet tutorials Ive seen that an engine support is needed for these operations. Ive also noticed that its a simple bar with nothing special so I will do one myself.
I would like to build the bar before I start wrenching the 911. Does someone have the exact meassurements of the bar? I would lift my 911 and meassure it myself but the lift is now "busy" with another car..
Thanks
Sorry for not chiming in before, I was on vacation. Didint have the opportunity to lift up the car yet, in fact i didnt have the opportunity to even see the car yet. Dont really know when Ill have some spare time to start wrenching the car but I promise that when I build the support bar I will post the dimensions and measurements.
Happy new year
Smaller might do it, I'm sure this is overengeneered. That said the piece looks like a 2" x 3" x 1/4" T beam.

Im sorry, I thought you built it. Thats what I was thinking. Especially the 1" solid bar. Holy S$#% thats strong. That thing would hold a truck. I believe I will try a lighter version and see. Thank you for the measurements.
