After a few months I cleaned MAF and the CEL went away after 3rd engine start-up.

Suggestion
You can search and read these posts. The MAF is supposed to self clean itself at start up, I would get rid of that filter clean the whole airbox to the throttle throughly and reinstall a new non oiled filter. If you throw a CEL after that then you may need a new MAF sensor, but they ain't cheap so I would try the cleaning first.
Leading evidence: 'Clean maf and the cel went away' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'sensor needs' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean first' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Therefore the benefits of replacing the original paper filter with BMC cotton air filter, produced using the same technology and materials as the F1 air filters, are evident.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Had a 90K service on 2000 911.
About 100 miles later the CEL came on. The code was P1130.
Could the mechanic have unintentionally or intentionally caused this?
Any ideas what might this code reflect? (eg. faulty MAF, leak in hose, etc.) I cleaned MAF but it did not help.
Yes I erased the code and cleaned the MAF sensor.
Light came on 2 days ago again after 100 miles. I plan on taking it to a different mechanic.
About 2 years ago I had a CEL come on after taking it to same mechanic. After a few months I cleaned MAF and the CEL went away after 3rd engine start-up.
I am thinking maybe he uses different air filter which could cause this? He uses BMC air filter. Or maybe during the tune-up something was not tightened?
BMC REPLACEMENT FILTER
PERFORMANCE
BMC air filters are designed and produced to ensure a higher air flow than original paper filters. In F1, for example, BMC cotton filters minimize the loss of air flow pressure passing through the air filter; this way ensures the best conditions for full exploitation of maximum power. Therefore the benefits of replacing the original paper filter with BMC cotton air filter, produced using the same technology and materials as the F1 air filters, are evident.
DESIGN AND MATERIALS
Qualified engineers using advanced software and expert technicians using the latest technologies produce BMC air filters. An F1 filter must be very light, must be made of the best raw materials and must improve performance. For this reason we use only alloy mesh with epoxy coating to ensure protection from petrol fumes and from oxidization due to the humidity of the air. The filtering material is composed of a
to give you the best air permeability.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
BMC technical staff has developed a particular production system based on soft rubber moulding which produces the familiar BMC red filters. They are made in one single piece with no welded joints in the corners, thus avoiding breaking risks. This system, called "Full Moulding" comes from R&D in F1 and it is significant of BMC air filters' technical and quality specifics.
The filter is soaked in Oil so this may throw off your MAF correct?
So the BMC filter may have cause the MAF sensor to get damaged only 100 miles after being placed?
How would I determine if the MAF needs replacing vs another cause of the CEL and p1130 code?
I only use the OEM filters, but have read many posts here about K&N filters that have oil and seem to foul the MAF sensor. Hope this helps
If you use the BMC filter it needs to be washed prior to use. The filters often come over=oiled to extend shelf life. Washing is simple...soak for 5 minutes in a 10-1 mixture of water and dish soap, rinse and air dry.
I'm always amazed at how folks will spend the extra money for "upgraded filters"...then have CELs shortly thereafter....which the causes them to spend another couple hundred dollars for a new MAF. It would seem that for the little performance enhancement you might get out of an upgraded filter, it's hardly worth the hassle of CELs and the cost of a new MAF (or two)...not to mention the time and effort spent in taking it back to the dealership and fighting with them trying to convince them that it was their service department that caused the problem in the first place. Just stick with an OEM filter and eliminate any problems. I seriously doubt that you'd shave much off your 0-60 times with a different filter anyway.
The thing that bugs me is very few posters come back and post the outcome of their problem so we can all benifit from the experience.PHYJAG where are you??
