Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

That's why I'm keeping everything I've replaced with a mod.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with a mod' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace with a mod' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

With the birth of our 3 child a few months ago, I am considering selling my 996 (or trading it in) and getting something with a larger back seat. With the economy and the falling prices of 996's, I'm almost scared to ask but how much is my 996 worth?

It is really a very well sorted car with almost every desirable upgrade...no issues.
TIA
The situation right now is this, you simply will not be able to sell your car unless you sell it at an insanely low price. I'd say 21 - 24K. The exception would be finding a buyer who happens to want the exact car you have and no other. They might pay 25K.
If you can, keep it. It's just the way you want. Keep it, enjoy it, if you're a Porsche guy (and it looks like you are) you'll be kicking yourself when its gone.
It's worth close to $30K if you return it to stock and sell your mods separately. That's why I'm keeping everything I've replaced with a mod. Otherwise all the other pundits are right.
You're gonna have a hard tim getting $30k right now IMO. If you really need to get it sold, take off all your mods and price it as low as you can stomach.
Here's the glass-is-half-full way to look at it: Once the current recession ends, you will get a better price. In that sense, even with the time-value of money and the normal depreciation rates considered, you could probably sell it in two years for exactly what you could sell it for today (maybe even more). So keep it... and consider the next two years of driving pleasure "free."
I like that!! And on the even brighter side... if the recession gets even deeper and prices fall further, you may be able to get the next 3 or 4 years of driving for free!
KBB.com puts your car at around 25k for 'good' condition. Excellent would push it a bit higher. That's for private party sale. Retail (a dealer with your car on their lot) would put it at 29k.
Don't ever expect to get the money out from your mods. Waste of time to even think about it.
But....you may find a willing buyer by asking 31.9K and take anything north of say, 28k. Just have to lower your expectations a bit.
Out of 47 MY 2000 Porsche 911s offered for sale recently - 5 actually sold. Here's what sold (miles, selling price, model) 44K $26.5 C2 coupe, 69K $25.6 C4 coupe, 49K $25 CAB, 69K $20.1 CAB Tip, 55K $28 C4 Millenium Ed.
Based on these numbers you could probably get $27 - 29 if you find someone who understands the value of the mods.
If a dealer offers you what you can get from a private party, they're not selling the new car as cheap. Trade in is almost always going to result in an inferior price than you can get private party, as the dealer will get a much lower price for a trade in at auction. The decision to trade in vs. selling your car privately is basically if the hassle of a private sale is worth it to you.
Ahmet ->has worked at/with dealers, and bought/sold dozens of cars privately as well...
Go ahead and list it to sell as is.
If you are looking to sell it in the next 2 months, you will have to accept around $26,000. Few people are looking to buy a sports car during winter (snow) / tax time.
Oh my... Have you seen the thread I started in OT? We are looking at buying a used Rover and there have been a TON of comments, good and bad. If nothing else, it's an interesting read.
Good luck with the sale. If you can, I'd recommend parting out what you can and selling the car closer to stock. That'll get you the most money.
24,500 on trade... I would jump on it. I am willing to bet that the # is good whether the car is stock or full of upgrades. Worth a question to them. Seats at a min will sell easily as long as you have your stock stuff of can get it reasonably easily and cheaply.
I would confirm all the above, line up some of the swaps and do the trade. Then just sell of the items and depending on what you have you will end up with 2-4K extra which is what you wanted in the end.
Otherwise sit and wait and try to sell your car and then outright buy the car you want and negotiate the best deal.

YUP..... those "upgrades" dont increase the value much, if you can swap back to stock, sell the car, then sell your upgrades, you will come out better...
Remember things like New wheels, new tires, new this or that don't add value to a car, but things like worn out tires, broken this or that make the car worth less... its just the way it is.
Well, $24.5K in trade means absolutely nothing without knowing the cost of the RR!!!!!
He may well be screwing you on the other end of the deal to make the $24.5 sound good.
You need to lay out all the numbers otherwise it's a pointless discussion....
You better love the absolute Sh%t out of the Range Rover because you'll be stuck with that thing for years. You think your taking a hit on the Porsche, Range Rovers sink like tanks.
Also, like others have said, the dealer will be taking you over the coals on the buying end of the range rover if they are offering you 25K for the Porsche.
In this economy cash is king. Not bartering or trading. Try to sell the Porshce on your own and your in a much better buying position. If you can't sell the Porsche, keep it as a thrid car and buy a used volvo XC90 or acura MDX.
Just my 2 cents.
If you have the time/motivation and access to replacement parts, part it out. I sold a heavily modified car as-is and got maybe $3k extra for $20k (retail) worth of parts. It was disgusting. But I just didn't have the motivation to part it out.
