Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Actually, the current President/CEO and the Senior VP of Business Development both tried to convince the guy that will be running the company to keep me on the staff.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the 5 and a half hour drive to the out-laws with 2 dogs, my 19 month old Daughter and the wife.
Should be a swell trip! Than 4 BORING days at the in laws....in the middle of nowhere... boooooooo!!!
Happy Holidays!
Looking forward to NO DRIVING (except recreational, weather permitting). Inlaws are coming over for early dinner then leaving. Blizzaks on and ready for a test run.
Getting close to our annual viewing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. "Mele Kalikimaka . . ."
Are you kidding?? I will be lucky to pry her out of Grandma hands!!
And it gets better, just saw they are expecting a TON of snow tonight!! I HATE SNOW!
LOL @ hate snow... send some my way, I love it!!!
Bored...... hmmmmm, cant say I have ever been bored. Dont know how to help you there. Seems I have too many things going on to have been bored.
I am heading to the farthest south/east corner of Washington state you can get. My sister lives out there and it sits on a high bluff the overlooks the snake river canyon. You can see Idaho on the other side and Oregon to the south. There isnt anything out there but grass and a few fence posts..nearest neighbor is about 3 miles away.
I am sure there will be some fire arm training for the kids and maybe some bob cat driving, they like to tear up the place with that thing... wish there was going to be snow, but none this year. That makes the place look better than some barren waste land... makes it a white barren waste land LMAO!!
Have fun all...
You can pick your friends, but not your relatives!!
Same thoughts - Easily the best holiday of the year.
Drove down this morning and am now sitting here with my wife in the city-state of Brooklyn in my smarter older daughter's appartment with her husband and two dogs as the oven's aroma waifs through. Hmmmm.... Wonder if I can sneak a peice of my wife's cranberry cheesecake before dinner?
Only downer is my smarter younger daughter is in Portland, OR, visiting her (? future) inlaws. Miss her a lot and wish she were here.
Damn Dutchie, that looks great!!!
Since I am losing my job next Wednesday, we couldn't afford a turkey, so we roasted a parakeet. Not much meat on those bones to feed two people!
Tim, I cannot believe what I just read. Your ( - soon to be ex-) bosses do not know what a star they have in you! My suspicion is that you will find a better job very soon even in today's economy.
Our best wishes to you and yours today.
Steven
Happy Turkey Day!
I arrived safely at the outlaws. DC traffic is the suck; I don't know how anyone deals with it. Ate too much. Having wine helps. Everyone travel safely.
Steven, thanks for the kind words.
Three months ago, the investors who own the grocery company I work for decided to sell 37 of the 58 stores. We just completed the transition of the last of the 37 stores last week. Three months ago there were 186 corporate employees. They are laying off 150+ of them, me included in the next week.
Actually, the current President/CEO and the Senior VP of Business Development both tried to convince the guy that will be running the company to keep me on the staff. They mentioned the work I had done in 9 months to increase productivity (about 3.1%) and reduced over $480,000 in payroll costs. The guy taking over said he didn't have room for me because the investors were only allowing him a headcount of 30.
The current President/CEO told me that when he gets a similar position with another company that I will be one of the first people he contacts to see if I want to join him.
Even if I have been on the "stay" list, I think the future of the company is limited. I think the investors will try to divest the remaining 20 stores (one under performing store was closed two months ago) in the near future. Even if they are unable to do so, I would not be surprised if they closed all of the stores in 2009, probably in the September/October time frame.
Anyway, thanks again for the kind words, Steven. I really do appreciate it!
Tim,
You are very wellcome. Please keep us informed as to your search. I suspect it will be short, and maybe it will come with a Porsche! as a bonus.....
Steven
If I could find a job there I would go back, especially since we still have not sold the NC house.
At least we would have a place to live if I got a job there!
Most of the career has been in the retail industry, doing functions that are a mix of Industrial Engineering, Workforce scheduling and analysis, and Financial budgeting and analysis. In a nutshell, those functions include:
Industrial engineering functions (I am not a degreed I.E.) - methods analysis and improvement, productivity enhancement, establishing best practices
Workforce scheduling and analysis - defining workloads, establishing standard times to process the workload, scheduling hours to handle the workload, and facilitating change management
Financial Analysis - sales and labor budgeting, payroll cost analysis, ROI analysis on capital expenditures
Basically, anything that involves retail labor hours or cost, I get involved with. The average impact I make on a company the first year is usually 3% to 5% in productivity improvement and/or labor cost reductions. That is usually the easy to reach, "low hanging" fruit, which gets the continuous improvement process rolling in the company.
In subsequent years, the gains/savings are similar to the first year numbers but they are more difficult to identify and attain. These improvements usually require a mind-set change by upper and middle management (this is where the change management comes in to play). Occasionally, these initiatives require some capital investment to facilitate the process improvements required to realize the targeted gains.
Logically, one would think that in the current economic situation, my skills SHOULD be in high demand, but not all companies recognize or are willing to admit they are not as efficient as the could, or should be.
OK, I have babbled enough about what I do.
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
