Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings,
I have an 04 C4s Cab. Ever since it has been new the top has rattled. I have had it in to the local dealer 3 times to find the rattle.(just got it back after 1 week)They found a technical Bullitin from Porsche that dealt with this problem. They replaced some metal parts in the frame with some others that didn't rattle.
WRONG!!!!
!
They all do it, and the predilection changes with outside temperatures. Only the most fastideous and repeated efforts at employing the TB will clear it up. I have given up on mine.......On cold days it pops and snaps to distraction, especially going over any bumpy surface.......
I can only speak for myself, but my '04 C4S cab has been rattle free from day one. There was a slight squeak in the frame above the driver's door, and the TSB fix (listed on renntech.org) took care of that with a little silicone spray. Other than that, it's as tight as a drum. Best soft top I have ever had (including Ferrari, Aston, many 911s) other than MB. I suggest you find another dealer with a resident rattle expert--this is definitely not something to accept. I've sold many of my cars for having squeaks and rattles that didn't go away (especially glass roof Targas!).
This is a known issue and is solvable. My '02 C2 cabriolet had that problem when I first got it. It turned out to be cables in the top rubbing together. The dealer wrapped them in tape and I've never had a rattle since. I posted the work order info in response to an earlier thread on this same subject. Do a search and you should be able to find it (I don't have the info with me at the moment).
My C4S has had zero rattles as well. I have about 22,000 miles on it now it's as rattle free as the day I picked it up. The only thing I noticed is the windscreen creaks sometimes but that's expected.
ymmv,
Rob
