Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Of course it's a crate motor that is being installed by a P dealer.
Leading evidence: 'Install by a p dealer' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install by a p dealer' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Of course it's a crate motor that is being installed by a P dealer. I plan to ask my dealer this question, but wanted to ask here as well.
The motor comes with a 2 year warranty, but is there any way to get an extended warranty on it?
Thanks
I think that's a great decision given the choices you mentioned in your previous thread. Sell now or keep her, you will get more for it when the time does comes to sell.
Will you be taking it to Columbia for the install? Good luck and keep us posted with the progress.
Good decision. Since you're way down the depreciation curve the car probably won't lose much more value over time. You should plan on keeping the car and driving the heck out of it for the next couple of years to get your money's worth!
No SC996. I'm having it done in Fayetteville, NC. They have a pick-up service via trailer and they are cheaper on normal service. I had to negotiate with them on the motor thought and they ended up coming down a lot.
Hell guys, I guess I will just keep it. I'm not as mad as before, but still disappointed in the Porsche brand. I was never really impressed by the way it drove either. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the driving experience isn't worth having to spring for a new motor.
If I had been paying on it for a few years it wouldn't be as bad. Now I owe for the car and a new motor. I'm spending C4S money and still only have a C2.
Very true though about the depreciation. I think I bought it at a good time as I only paid $29,000 for it 9 months ago. It's taken the huge depreciation hit already. Plus, it's not like it will ever go down to $5000, no matter what the miles are.
the clutch is a wear item, eventually it will wear down until it bugs you enough to have it changed. It just doesn't break unless your doing something very stupid like dropping it at high rpm.
if it were me, I would buy the clutch parts and have them installed with the new motor. I believe the parts are approx $400 and the labor should be almost free with the motor out.
Hey, look at the bright side--you spent C4S money but didn't get all the understeer!
You got it...they are depreciating a bit--I paid $33k for my C4 in December '06--but it's not like these are going to be $15k cars any time soon. FWIW, I think you're doing the right thing and am glad to see you still around here!
I would put in the new clutch too. Then plan on driving it for a long time.
I'm glad you came to terms with the whole situation.
FWIW, I'd rather have a C-2
The wife doesn't want any more power. I made the mistake a while back (with her in the passenger seat) and let the RPM's get around 3000 in 2nd gear and nailed it. Needless to say she thinks "that car is too fast". Hahaha
