Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, there was one last MOD that I still had on my car that I didn't want to leave on the car when I sent it back to the leasing company.
Some of you may remember that I had done PSE mods with two defferent sets of mufflers. The first set was 3.4L cans which did not change the sound as much as I thought it would. I ended up sending those cans to Tom (
himself
) when
Ray S
was kind enough to send me his 3.6L mufflers at no charge after he got some true PSE cans. The same mod (MK II) sounded sooooo much better on the 3.6L cans than it did on the 3.4L cans.
As I said earlier, I didn't want the PSE mod cans to go back to the leasing company, so I asked
Steven C.
who lives in Dallas, if he wanted to swap his 3.6L stock mufflers for my modded cans. I went over to Steven's house this morning and we spent about 3 hours swappping the mufflers. The part that took the longest was swapping the exhaust tips from muffler to muffler. Since the inspector for the leasing company took pics of the car, I didn't think I could get away with swapping the tips too.
I can't get over how quite my car is now with the stock mufflers on it. I really enjoyed the deeper, louder growl the PSE mod added to stock mufflers. Steven's car sounds so good now! Steven is a great guy and those of you that know him also know that he has one sweet 964... red, of course!
Steven, thanks again for the lunch. I had a lot of fun today.
Chris, I certainly hope so! I have enjoyed this car more than any other car I have owned, and that includes my first "dream car," which was a Jaguar XKE V-12.
Well, it was a great Sunday with Tim handing out free mods
It is fun in the fact that when you meet someone in person you just know over the phone or internet and they turn out to be as nice as you thought they would be. Even if he doesn't get another Pcar I am going to get him to play golf with us. So a new friend made and he doesn't even have to give me any more freebies.....I will just earn things from him on the golf course
THANKS TIM!
Whew! <Tim wipes the sweat off his brow> I was beginning to have flash-backs of me and my dog when I was a kid. The only way my Mother could get the dog to play with me was to tie a pork chop around my neck!
Steve, I was getting worried that when I ran out of "pork chops" you wouldn't want to have anything to do with me! I'm glad to know that is not the case.
Steve, you are welcome. I hope you enjoy the sound.
Oh, BTW - I want my cans back. My car sounds like **** now!
If I ever get a 996 (or a 997) again and it does not have PSE, the PSE mod will be the first mod I do to the car and it will be completed in the FIRST WEEK I have the car.
Anyone who doesn't want to spend $1,500+ for real PSE mufflers should do the PSE mod. Just make sure you use 3.6L mufflers. I had forgotten how MUCH better my car sounded after the mod.
Tim, I am heart broken but more importantly, your heart needs to be healed also. Please tell me there is another P-car ride in the very near future. Best of luck and best regards, eric
