This is not a probability of success.

I already asked him to consider an engine replacement, as this is just unacceptable, I mean I just changed the bloody seal a month ago.

(U think a 3.6l could replace the 3.4l on my '01?)

Keep in mind they replace with a rebuilt motor-not new.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The ignitiion switch on the Boxster I bought for $10 on Ebay and fixed it myself.
Seriously, the amount of info available, is amazing. My car is at the dealer with its 2nd rms seal leak. Was just talking to the service manager and complaining. Started asking if they were using the micro encapsulated blue bolts, and whether my crankcase was within the +- 0.30 tolerance limit. I tell you he was blown away, he is German, and he was like 'how do u know all this information, this is internal info'. I just told him power of the internet and pointed him to this site. Knowledge is power, and when the average Pcar buyer here in Dubai, knows very little about their car, other than it is fast, expensive and looks good, I definitely feel empowered with the knowledge gleaned from this site. I already asked him to consider an engine replacement, as this is just unacceptable, I mean I just changed the bloody seal a month ago.
They'll probably fix it this time around, but next time it's a new engine or bust!! (U think a 3.6l could replace the 3.4l on my '01?)

Give it a day or so to see if your sign on changes to "member". If not just email Jen and ask that your sign on be updated. It is the holidays so it may take a day or so. This is the best $ you will ever spend on your car....best of luck....
I agree with that. This is best $17 bucks I ever spent. I've been driving Porsches for 30 years and never heard of this site until a few weeks ago. And to beat it all, my wife found it and told me to join. I have learned most everything I know the hard and expensive way up until now. I can't believe I bought a 996 knowing nothing of RMS problems. So far I have been lucky. 47k miles and the car has been great. The original owner had no repairs and neither have I, just regular maintenance.
But I learned about the gummy starter problem on my 968 and where to buy a rebuilt starter cheap. Saved me about $500. The ignitiion switch on the Boxster I bought for $10 on Ebay and fixed it myself. I would have taken it in and paid a shop to replace the entire mechanism instead of the back side of the switch. No telling how much that saved.
I am getting ready to do a brake job on the 968 and plan to buy the cross drilled rotors and pads evryone recommends on the 968 forum, and do it myself. I have subscribed to Excellence and Panorama for years, but never realized I could get this much info here and at Pelican. Some day, I may even be able to locate the car in my avatar I've been searching for the past year. BTW, that car is absolutely amazing. More than 50k in mods was put into that car by the second and third (me) owner. A divorce forced me to sell for 20k
Thanks to everyone!!!!!
