Just replaced my center console with a carbon fiber unit... outstanding! Does anyone know if the 1999 upper center console can be replaced with the newer one piece models. I would like to switch mine to allumnium look, or arctic silver which I am told is the same, but have been told you can't paint or buy after market 1999 parts.What is a source for the parts . The new one definitely won't fit. But there are several people on Ebay who sell both the older and newer upper center consoles in Carbon Fiber. The uppers go for around 500 to 700 usually.

Thanks for the responses! I didn't think the later one piece unit would fit the 1999 996. I must admit that I can't find anyone that markets a 3 piece replacement other than the stock grey Porsche parts. Havn't seen one on Ebay either, but will continue to look. Thanks.
