Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So here's the deal. My car runs 'fine' and it's just had it's first yearly service. However I'm having a problem with loss of power. Porsche shrug their shoulders cause there is no ERROR CODE *&%$ The car has two distinct personalities. The major problem is that they are not different enough for somebody who doesn't drive the car everyday to really notice them, if not impossible to get the technician to do a comparison cause the problem goes and comes randomly. It's really annoying me because when the car is in 'fast' mode it's so much fun to drive, when accelerating it doesn't stop pulling. You can really feel the power between 5000rpm and 7000rpm. When the car is in slow mode the acceleration feels flat. I would say the car is this way about 70% of the time. When the car is in fast mode it makes a whining sound from the engine that only happens above 5500rpm when accelerating hard. When it's slow no such sounds come from the engine. I thought an oil service might reveal a problem but no luck and Porsche was no help. This has nothing todo with temperature, car temperature, or duration the car has been on. I use the same gas, same octane rating (98RON) <-about 94 US. This is also not in my head, i'm sure of it. Because the way i know when the car is going faster is when i'm accelerating in 2nd gear it would feel like 1st gear acceleration and I have to do a double look at what gear i'm in out of confusion...every happen to you? I also ALWAYS drive in M mode so this is not an issue of the auto putting me in first. If it was a variocam problem wouldn't the computer detect it?

POST 2Original post

This may sound stupid, but is the AC on when you are in slow mode and off when you are in fast? Have to check all the bases

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I knew I forgot one...No it's not AC, I live in england...i use the AC once a year. And the TEMP control is not on automatic.

Can you link the condition with any particular type or octane of fuel?
