I use a Sony MiniDV with a Carl Zeiss lens and a 16:9 mode to accomodate the wide angle.

I will certainly run with the Central Indiana region again.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

..about getting the M3.
Here is a fun track vid from my last event of the year.
A few notes. This is the BEST track weekend I had ever had. Running in group 3 (intermediate) and not a single car passed me. And finally, the 928 at the end turned out to be an instructor (great guy) with a student. We had a blast the remainder of the weekend.
My best lap was a 1:23.00. A good friend runs a consistant 1:20.9 in his PCA 944 S2 Firehawk race car. I am pretty happy.
Thank you to Kirby. That set of Pss9's were AWESOME!
Enjoy.

EDIT: I am completely kidding of course. You guys know I love Porsches.
HAHAHA all that means is good driving by you and by the looks of it, poor driving by those porsche drivers. give yourself more credit dude, it's not the car
thx for sharing. great vid.
Hahahahaha...nice! But fortunately, there were some VERY good driver's out there. I was running in Group 3. The 928 driver was an instructor with 300+ ponies under the hood. Playing with him was a HOOT!! A couple of 996 C4S driver's tried to keep up with us, but we lost them in the twisties. Great, GREAT weekend. I will certainly run with the Central Indiana region again. Fantastic group.
Chad
Nothing like sucking a little 928 exhaust, Hey Chad-- but it was nice of him to let you go! and I really like your Toyota...
Seriously, great video...nice driving man...thanks for posting it up...
Jim
Nice video Chad, nice JD Fortune soundtrack!
But you gotta start shifting gears, you're in 4th the whole time, maybe that m3 just can't wrap very hard.
Chad - Great vid! Thanks for sharing. Like the others said, you are not giving you diving skills enough credit. We all know it can't be the car, because as Porsche sez... there is no substitute!
Chad: Great Vid...you're not the only E46 guy that reads this board. I'm in the process of looking for a C2...but the M3 will never leave my garage...just can't get enough of the car.
What mods are done to the M3?
Do you plan on attending the Hooser Rights of Spring event at Putnum in April?...hope to see you there if things pan out.
Andy
Aw...C'mon guys. You know I love y'all.
To answer questions:
AudiOn19s: M3 mods are subtle. PSS9's (thanks Kirb), RD Sway bars, Cobalt Friction track pads, K&N 63 intake, and a Larini Exhaust.
aben8057: Luv to man. Gonna be a little while. When my little can fit in the car w/o a seat, Daddy will be looking.
JimPDX - Video equip: Here's the scoop. I only do DE / weekend track days. I do not have a roll bar so I use this:
I got it from
http://www.filmtools.com
It is a 6" suction cup mount that can hold 70lbs. That's right 70. I use a Sony MiniDV with a Carl Zeiss lens and a 16:9 mode to accomodate the wide angle. The footage was recorded from mounting it to the windshield and pointing out. The result is awesome. The mount is $99 and the camera is you choice. For me, the Sony is the perfect size and weight.
C.
Bahh! All I saw was a series of early apexes and a wave by from a fat and lazy 928 tired of the sedan in his rearview!
Just kidding
Some nice driving, must have been a ball!
Here's the mount that I use (
www.cruisecam.com
) ...but I don't think that it will work in a 996 becuase it mounts on the posts of the headrest.
If I wasn't such an idiot when it came to video editing I'd share some videos too.
Chad - Nice driving. Putnam is my home track. The CIRPCA guys are a great group that love to have fun "hauling the mail"! Randy (The Shark 928) knows how to get it around Putnam. You did well. Why didn't you drive the 996? Come on back we have another crew that you might like to play with: Prosport. PM me for details.
Hot: Thanks bud. Well...I sold the 996 earlier this year.
I agree, the CIRPCA ARE in fact a fantastic group. I had a lot of fun attending that event.
short version: my wife and I had our first born. Needed a car that has room for me (6'6"), my wife (6'1") and a baby seat, while still being able to have fun on the tracks.
