Suggestion

Personally, if the tread-wear/performance is similar, and you're running the stock sizes, I think it's OK to mix brands.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need 285/30 ZR18 Continental ExtremeContact DWs for my C4. The fronts have a ton of life, but the rears are done... There does not appear to be any in stock anywhere in North America. My Indy can't find any (and his suppliers say delivery maybe in June), TireRack show them as backordered, same for Discount Tire and 1010tires just emailed me to cancel my order because they cannot find any... I am loathe to put a different brand on the back due to the fact the car is a C4. Any disagreement on this? I guess it's new tires all around.

Tried National Tire out here on the Wet Coast for ya - no luck ...

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ed, Thanks. Just checked darn, they are DWS not DW.... Many thanks...

POST 5Original post

Fergus, You're selling the car, right? Just put a brand new set of four Sumitomos HTR ZIII tires on it. A set of four of those will probably not cost you much more than two rear Contis. You can advertise the car with new tires, which will appeal to buyers.

POST 6Original post

Have you considered 265's, which will fit an 11 inch rim. That's the recommended size for winter tires. Just a thought.

POST 7Original post

Have you tried a slightly different size? 265/35 18 will fit the 996. Maybe even 295/30 18.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry I forgot to clarify, I am running 10.5" rims and I think that that is right at the limit of the tire.... Unfortunately no 295/30 in that model....

POST 10Original post

Personally, if the tread-wear/performance is similar, and you're running the stock sizes, I think it's OK to mix brands. I've has mixed winter tire brands on my car with no issues. If you're going to be tracking the car, I might think differently but for general street use, I don't think you'll have a problem. (And I don't think you'd have a *problem* per se on the track - just that the handling might be unpredictable and not enjoyable - or even dangerous.)

I have a complete set including two rear tire 285 30 ZR 18 and two front 255 35 ZR 18. I will sell the complete set for 800 box which I pay 1800. The set has around 5000 KM and they are brand new. I cannot put them to any of my car so now they are useless for me. I will prefer to sell to the Canadian buyer but I will also consider the US people. you can PM me or send me a mail to [email removed]

POST 12Original post

you can blame me.... I got the last two rears in the US, from Kansas last week. You will be happy to know, I am please with them though...

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Given that I am actively trying to sell the car, I am a bit leery of mixing brands (it looks cheesy ) and I do not know the future use of the car. Also not running stock rim widths in the rear...
