This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So after some deliberation and given that my current lease was up soon and not really doing it for me in the "fun to drive" department I decided to take the plunge and picked up a 2004 996 40th Anniversary edition. I looked around at several models and this one seemed to be a nice example, decent price, decent mileage and good service record. Had taked in for a PPI which came out clean except for a slight RMS leak so I negotiated having local dealer do RMS / IMS LN Engineering upgrade into price (So I can sleep at night. Thanks to reading these boards ) and should be taking delivery next week

POST 2Original post

OK OK OK STOP EVERYTHING first off hello and welcome, great car, yada yada...pics....you know the drill... the "dealer" is installing an LNE bearing.. this is not a Porsche dealer but a car dealer? i am very curious about this - please provide details. back to your regularly schedueled intro....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope...I was born at night but NOT LAST NIGHT Car PPI done by independant 3rd party and RMS/IMS being done by a different Porsche dealer .

POST 8Original post

JAKE - ??? please comment on this IMS being done at a Porsche dealer, this is NEW NEW NEWS to me, I was under the impression that Porsche would not allow this to be done. Wouldnt it be interesting if a CPO car had to have one

POST 9Original post

Congrats on your 04', can't wait to see the pics.

POST 10Original post

First off to Miami- Congrats, manny mile sand smile on the new aquisition! To Ivangene- when I was doing my research about the LN Engineering IMS retrofit upgrade, I spoke with my Porsche dealer...they would have gladly done the work (I was surprised) .....except they would not buy the part (not surprised....liability issue?! so I had to buy the retrofit kit....ultimatley, I had the work done by a local indy shop (who bought the part and tool) and I couldn't be happier. BTW: my car was out of CPO warranty.

POST 11Original post

Great move getting the upgrade built into your purchase! I too asked the local Porsche dealer and they said they would install the LN upgrade if I desired it, but I would have to purchase it and just pay them for the labor. Enjoy the new ride!
