Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used 99firehawk's suggestion but with Aerospace303 and it quieted most of my squeaks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hey all... i have weird squeak when driving with top down. sounds like metal rubbing on metal and it seems to be coming from the contact of the driver door to the door latch area.
anybody had anything similar in the past? would make it easier for dealer to fix the problem.
the squeak is so bad, its almost not fun to drive the car with top down
theres been a few bulletions on door latch area noises if the noise is actualy coming from there it shouldnt be a difficult fix
unfortantly noises are often hard to find and may not be coming from where you think they are
jkb - I've had a couple different things on my 01 cab that I've fixed in the past
1) On the actualy top itself, if you leave the top half open, you'll notice there are some bolts that hold the metal frame of the top together (on both the drivers and passenger side). Make sure that they are tight and that the metal on metal rattle doesn't come from the top
2) The rubber seals on the door may need to get some rubber treatment on them to keep them rubbery. Sometimes alot of dirt gets on them and it makes an annoying sqweeking sounds (won't sound like metal on metal though). I would just clean and treat the rubber seals on the door
3) The door strike/hinge may not be aligned properly where there just may be some extra play in the door when its shut. You can loosen the plate on the car and move it around to see if it makes any difference.
I've done all three with some pretty good success!!!!
Hope this helps.
Although not permanent, I dabbed on some lithium grease. I also lubed all pivot points of the top and all points of the door that pivot or contact. I have had the exact same noise coming from the same spot. The grease seems to help quite a bit, but it does creep back over time.

"What is lithium grease and where can you buy it?"
Probably most common form of grease, available anywhere that sells anything automotive related. BTW if you don't have any, use Vasoline.
any comlaint for sqeaks rattles in the door or top
clean and lube all seals and weather strip
tighen the bolts for the striker and the latch
apply posche nasa lube to the cab top cables and contact points
teflon stips in the windsheild mounts
I have the TSB from Porsche on adjusting the hard top & fixing noises.....can I post the files here?
Or if anyone needs them just PM me & I'll email them to you.
