Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i am planning to do maybe 2 wheels at a time. is it safe to jack up the car & also just put wood block under the car. i need to know where to stick the wood blocks so the car is not damaged. any info, i will appreciate.

POST 2Original post

I would be very leary of chroming your wheels. Do a search and you will see what chroming does to Porsche wheels, specifically hollow spokes. Why not get them machine polished? It will look like chrome but with more depth and doesn't cost that much plus you can get them done at Al Reed in Anaheim. BTW, you can also chrome plate them at Al's as well. Al will give you a loaner set of wheels too.

you are scaring me now. i have the turbo look wheels.

POST 4Original post

If you do a search, I believe at least one Rennlister has posted pics of his wheels. The chrome weakened to wheel and I believe the wheel cracked. There have also been issues with chrome peeling, flaking, etc. I have had two sets of wheels polished by Al and they both look great. One set was the 996 TT look wheels and the other was HRE 540's. I believe the polish looks much better (although more work to keep up) than chrome. Al can also put a clearcoat on top of the polish. If you PM me your email address, I can email you some photos of my wheels. Addison

POST 5Original post

I did the swap with Wheel Enhancement.. I have never heard of a wheel cracking because of being chromed... I have had chrome rims for over the last 10 years on various cars without any problems... Here is a pic of my old set on my cab.. now there on my girlfriends boxster... Wheel enhancement will take your old rims and trade you with the chrome for around $800 or so... this is the easiest way to go..

POST 7Original post

A local alignment shop puts on a Porsche tech session each year. This year they had a hollow spoke wheel that had been chromed. I forget the details but it was something about the acid staying in the hollow spokes and that there was sand stuck in there. Jeff

I have chrome wheels on my Navigator. Unfortunately, they have a bit of curb rash. The only thing I can do to get rid of the imperfections is to rechrome them, a PITA. If they were polished, I could just repolish the lip.
