Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Like all modern cars, you can set just about anything from the computer (PCM3): lights, DRL, door locks etc...too many to list here and most of which I have no use for like Sirius.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Goodbye to all. I am moving to the 997 forum after trading in the C4S for a 2009 CS PDK. Thanks for all advice and tips. Don't listen to the IMS fear spreaders and naysayers. I think that in time the 996 will have proven itself to have been one of the most important cars in Porsche's history on many levels. The prices for good 996's have stabilized and in some cases have gone up. People are being wise to the 996 and what it represents and dealers are looking for good ones. Mine lamented the fact that he couldn't certify my car due to its age but that he would love to do it. I have seen some good ones on dealers lots for north of 30 k and they don't last. So there.

POST 2Original post

Congrats and good luck with the new P car. I'm sure you'll love it. I have driven a 2009 C2S PDK and that thing was a beast.

POST 4Original post

Nice upgrade, someone will get a nice C4S... Sent from my iPad using Rennlist

POST 5Original post

Post a pic of your new 997. Congrats on the upgrade!

POST 7Original post

After you saying that..... (Don't listen to the IMS fear spreaders and naysayers.) I see you are getting shut of yours then haha. Joking apart.. I agree with you, but thanks to them scare mongers, I am able to afford a decent car at long last.

POST 8Original post

Congratulations on the move and post picture or two of the new beast when you get a chance. Enjoy

POST 10Original post

I agree with your sentiments. The 996 was a pivotal car for Porsche, and the reviews of the day were nothing short of glowing. Enjoy the new car. Just last night a guy stopped next to me at a light to say, "Nice ride." In turn, re: your '09...Nice ride.

POST 11Original post

Congrats ... please post a pic of your new ride.

POST 12Original post

Will likely be joining you in the 997 forum in a few months.

POST 13Original post

take care of the 996... the car is historical, its a fact.

POST 14Original post

Ims problems no longer part if story with 997 ?

did you notice that this was also post # 997 for you

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, there it is: I like it well enough: quick and agile lots smoother than the C4S. Steering is a tiny bit better, more immediate. Ah yes the power: with 385 on tap you know it's there. At a stop it reverts to 1st gear and the take off is a bit abrupt. And the PDK: sublime. I am put off by the overabundance of driver aids and media bs. Like all modern cars, you can set just about anything from the computer (PCM3): lights, DRL, door locks etc...too many to list here and most of which I have no use for like Sirius. Porsche is appealing to a broader base and is making its cars more and more accessible to the general public that has the cash. And by the way, I paid mid sixties with CPO and I got mid 30's for the C4S. Thy were blown away at my log book that itemized every repair or small mod with work order and receipts. I also turned over the original head unit and left the Pioneer NAV unit and the Alpine amps.

POST 17Original post

Beautiful car. Congratulations! Can't wait to get my own 996 C4S on the road (currently has a blown engine). Although the 997 rocker arms will always look a million times better to me.

POST 18Original post

never seen 996 wheels on a 997 before... kinda retro, looks good!

POST 19Original post

I didn't! Surely that's a sign! OP paid mid $60's. I'm starting to see good, low mileage 997's out here under $50k. My extended warranty runs out in Aug 2014. Hope to find my new ride by then.

POST 20Original post

For the gen 1 997s, you can definitely find good low mileage ones below $50k, even good CPO ones. If you're looking for Gen 2, price is not quite there yet. I just bought mine, CPO, closer to mid $50s less than 2 months ago. Ops mid $60s for a CPO S car sounds about right.

I question this though. If I was paying anywhere close to mid 60's, I'd want original wheels or 997 period correct wheels. Please disregard if those are your winter set or something.

POST 22Original post

Very nice car. Alpy, dont bring him down, bro!

I agree... Any side profile pics? those turbo twists has an interesting look on the 997.

"I question this though. If I was paying anywhere close to mid 60's, I'd want original wheels or 997 period correct wheels. Please disregard if those are your winter set or something." Yes they are. The rims and tires are new; set me back a pretty penny ( OEM Porsche wheels 18's + Blizzaks LM60) I'd have hated to have to spring for a new set. They were on the C4S and the service mgr gave me his ok to swap them. The summer setup is 19 inchers with PS2's and are in storage. I have to admit that the twists look good on the 997.
