Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a sun screen for the front windshield, but I haven't seen anything that protects the carpet in the back window from exposure to the sun. Frankly, my Porsche is rarely exposed to full sunlight - it's usually parked indoors. But, on those rare occasions when it is in the parking lot in the sun, I'd like to protect the rear carpeting from fading. I'm not into dark tinted windows. Has anyone seen a rear window sunscreen that's as simple to put in place as the front windshield sun screen? Bob

POST 2Original post

Window tint cuts down almost all of the harmful UVA and UVB rays. Even the lighter shades still cut down the same amount of UVA and UVB. Once you drive a car with tinted windows you'll never drive one without it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the advice. It's got to be cheaper than replacing interior parts that are sun-faded or damaged. The 951 I used to own had a little bit of that and it drove me crazy; had to replace everything with the slightest crack.

POST 5Original post

There are "short" car covers that just cover the top down to the bottom of the windows. That might do what you want and are easy to remove & store because it doesn't cover the full car.

POST 6Original post

If your car is rarely exposed to full sunlight as you've told us, I'm wondering if you might be needlessly worrying about fading. It makes sense to be concerned if your car is outdoors a lot in full sun, but yours apparently isn't.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, Pilot. I'll check out the price of a partial cover. Great point, VGM. It really doesn't sit in the sun much and hopefully never will. I won't sweat it. Bob

POST 8Original post

Here's a pic of a partial cover in weathershield, which is a great fabric. I take this cover when I travel to FL on vacation.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, Kevin. Where did you buy it? How much?

POST 10Original post

I'll see if I can find the info tomorrow a.m.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That seems a little extreme. But, what the hell. I've lived in so many places, Seattle would probably be fine. I'll let the wife and kids know in the morning.

POST 13Original post

rotokim, I purchased my cover in August 2004 from SportsCarSolutions.com, and the price was $92.00. The contact info I have is no longer current. You might find one here: http://www.autochic.com/interior_order.html They have "all weather interior covers" for 996 @ $59.00
