Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I went back to take a look (haha, that is rich!), at the engine, I checked the dip stick for the oil and while its low, its still in the range.
Leading evidence: 'Check dip stick' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check dip stick' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Best bet is to call Fabspeed or check with other Fabspeed users to see if they have the same problem.

Completely clean off the fill tank, and then drive your car for about 50 miles and check it.

Replace with new filter, but plug in, then fill the oil up!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

About a month ago, the car went into the shop to have a the coolant tank replaced. While there, I had the dealer install an engine protection plate. About 2 days after pickup, a solid (not flashing) CEL light came on. I checked the archives and it looked like it was not a big deal. About two/three days later, the CEL light went out.
Then, 4-5 days ago, I noticed the engine oil was on the low end of the little graph in the display.
Today however the CEL light (solid) came back in. When I went back to take a look (haha, that is rich!), at the engine, I checked the dip stick for the oil and while its low, its still in the range. However, when I removed the yellow cap for the oil fill, there was all this caked up oil and yellow residue. Also, the residue smelled like gas (petrol for some).
I should also add I have a fabspeed exhaust and intake.
I have a few questions, do owners of the fabspeed intake and exhaust have CEL light issues? Apart from MAF issues, what could the solid CEL be?
Also, how quickly do people burn oil? Do I just pour in the Modil One, or is there a bigger process. I read the DIY article on renntech.com on oil changes and I never thought an oil change could be such an ordeal!
Finally, what do you people think the yellow reside is?
Thanks,
CJ
It is possible that the exhaust and intake if eliminating the factory 02 sensors could cause the CEL to come on and off depending on driving conditions. With the intake, if the MAF sensor is not properly mounted it could cause the CEL, air flow if to much or to little can possible cause this. Check to make sure all your sensors and bungs are plugged in. Best bet is to call Fabspeed or check with other Fabspeed users to see if they have the same problem.
The oil change is easy. Undue the drain plug, then drain, then take off oil filter and drain. Replace with new filter, but plug in, then fill the oil up! Makes it easier when you have a shop. I would do another oil change on the car. Completely clean off the fill tank, and then drive your car for about 50 miles and check it. See if you get the same residue. Could be a random thing... Also what type of oil are you using?
Good luck
Dan
When my MAF failed it caused exceesive fuel delution in the oil. I think the engine goes real rich on a MAF failure to protect from lean burning of valves and pistons. If the computer doesn't know how to control the mixture it would err on the safe side that would be rich.
