Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So from your post I should stay with the Porsche recommended offsets.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend offsets' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). The set I'm looking at will come with Michillen Pilot Sports.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking at picking up some 18" Sport Design wheels. I have a 2000 C2 Cab.
I know that the stock rear wheels are 18x10 with a 65mm offset. The person I'm buying them from also has a set that were for a Boxster so they are 18x9 with a 45mm offset.
He said that the 18x9 with 45mm offset would look better since it would push the wheels out further and fill up the wheel well.
I'm not really tracking the car or anything, but will there be any negative performance effects with a 18x9 vs a 18x10 wheel?
Also, I can pick between Bridgestone Potenza SO2's or Michelin Pilot Sports. Rear tire size for either package will still be 265/35. Which tires are better?
Thanks for the help!
If I am not mistaken, the offset on the 986 SD's for the 9x18 is 52 (not 45) and the 996 10x18 is 65. They would NOT look better and they will NOT fit (yes you can bolt them on but they will not fit correctly). The wheels are designed for a 986 not a 996.
When you start messing with different offsets you start changing the geometry of the car and a couple problems get introduced: the wheels do not fit (or stick outside the fenders) or you need to start introducing spacers to get the correct offset.
As for your tire questions, do a search on that topic. There have been some great discussion (not which is better) that discuss the adv/dis of each and which are better in certain conditions.
So from your post I should stay with the Porsche recommended offsets. I wasn't sure the Boxster offset would be that much different.
The set I'm looking at will come with Michillen Pilot Sports. Should I ask for the S02's instead?
TIA
I would definately stay with the reccomended offsets.
As for the tires....I currently have the S02's and really like them. But....I thought about trying the PS or PS Ribs next to compare.
