Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got a 2001 C4. Overall I'm thrilled to have the car, but there is one troublesome issue I can't seem to solve: the car has a vibration at highway speeds. Initially I assumed it was a wheel/tire issue, since one rear tire was clearly in need of replacement. I had new tires (winter tires) installed and balanced on the original wheels (17'') at a good tire shop. But there was still a noticeable vibration on the highway -- especially from about 50mph up. I then brought it to the local dealer. The mechanic apparently decided it was still a wheel balance issue, and re-balanced the wheels. The shop told me the problem was fixed, but it's really unchanged. The vibration is not evident in the steering wheel. I feel it more in the entire car and seat. Since I don't feel it in the steering wheel, can I assume it's a rear issue? I plan to return to the dealer again for another shot, but I would feel better if I had a list in mind as well as to potential sources. Does anyone have a good troubleshooting guide for ride vibration? I really hope this is not one of those chronic troublesome issues that is not easily addressed. I really appreciate any advice.

POST 4Original post

If it gets worse with increasing speed it might be a bent wheel. The wheels bend very easily, but they are also easily repaired.
