Leading evidence: 'too much' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'too much' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). When I test drove it at the dealership, I got a very funny feeling inside that I only get when I test drive new Porsches.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, I was bored tonight so I thought I would photo shop what Phil's car would look like if he actually drove it in the snow.
If this pic doesn't send cold shivers down Phil's spine and make him break out into a cold sweat, then nothing will!
Enjoy! You too, Phil!
HAHAHA!!! Nice, although the pic needs more salt and road grime on the sides of the car. That pic would truly break Phil into a cold sweat. In all seriousness I saw Phil's car in person awhile back at a car show that we both attended and it is an excellent example of a 996, although it should be considering it only has 996 miles on the odometer. LOL
Tim, I clicked on this thread because I thought for a minute you were posting a pic of your NEW 996. Oh well, maybe next time. =)
Tim you are scaring Phil again!
Since you have some time, why don't you make a book
with pictures about Phil's adventures in the garage?
You already have an excellent collection of jokes right here at rennlist.
Just compile them, and put it for sale.
I would be the first to buy the book!
What do you think?
John
Actually there's been a couple of good thread this week on the board. We're doing much better than the last month or so.
p.s. I found the photoshop quite funny.
Tim,
To really bring it home and ensure the cold sweat you should have added the 5'10" Scandinavian car show model in a fur bikini and, and, and... oops, wrong board... (oh, that's what makes me sweat...)
Very nice photoshop!

You are right. I can hear Phil already....
"I deny any involvement in this issue. This is nothing but a fabrication of lies. You guys know me better than that. I am not a closet winter driver. I'm innocent, I tell ya!"
John,
I think that has merit. I have most of the material I need, and I am sure Phil will furnish more topics in the weeks and months to come.
A few chapter titles could be:
Understanding your warranty - 4/50 does not mean 4,000 miles or 50 years
Batteries 101
Farmers have crop circles made by little green monsters, Phil has little green dash circles made by man a.k.a. RTFM!
Keep on Truckin' a.k.a. Joining the guys for a spirited drive.... with your car on a flatbed truck
How to single handedly reduce our dependence on foreign oil
Vroom, Vroom!! a.k.a. Fun in the driveway
The 4th great lie known to man a.k.a I'm going to drive it!
Fun with Threapy a.k.a. How I bought my Threapist three Porsches
If you think I'm Nuts, you should meet my brother!
Tires 101 a.k.a. You're telling me that tires can rot?
As you can see, I can't decide whether to laugh or cry.
After seeing the pic of my car in the snow, I'm sitting in the garage under a cover!!!
BTW Tim, I want to make sure I have the right address for the Honda forum, since I'm ready to join you on it. What's that address again? Oh, yeah, it's
www.hondaPOS.com?
. Another thing, my battery can sulfate, my tires can rot, the little green circle can burn out on the dash, my therapist can build a 6,000 square foot villa on Antigua ... but my Porsche will
NEVER
see snow!!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!
Well, that is why I did the winter wonderland pic. At least now you know what you car would look like in the snow, without having to experience it personally.
Nice work Tim. I can hear Phil gnashing his teeth from here.
Gotta admit, I'm not sure that any Porsche of Phil's will ever see snow... look at it this way - I've inspected Phil's car and the wheel wells are beyond concours quality and have an erie iridescent shine - there's no way that he would ever risk getting dirt in there - it would take decades to get out.
Yep, the TT's a DD! In fact, I personally swapped out the RS4 19" wheels/summer tires for 18" OEM wheels and Pirelli A/S for the winter last week. I'm ready for anything. Well, almost anything.
BTW, I have to admit, Tim's pic of my car "in the snow" is by far his best work. I had to chuckle at that one. Damn funny stuff.
Phil, I appreciate the compliment. It took a while, but it was well worth it. Besides that, it was a good break from looking for a job!
You have always been a good sport for taking all of my ribbing!
Honestly Tim, with all the BS going on in the world right now (and you know better than most), your posts provide me the best laugh of the day! Keep them coming!!
Phil, you are not going to believe this!!!!
Just for the hell of it, I clicked on the link you created (
www.hondaPOS.com
) and here is what I found. The link took me to a page that did a search on "POS" and "Honda" and the 3rd link on the page was this....
POS Honda Electronics
. I am NOT making this up... click on the link and read the first post and you will get a good laugh.
While they are talking about a Honda motorcycle, I find it ironic that you inadvertently created an indirect link to a thread where someone is calling his Honda a POS..... but wait, it gets even better.... the best part is that the guy is having a
battery charging problem!
How great is that?????
I was laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. I think you got the site name backwards... I guess the POS part comes first.
PS (it was hard to type that <== without the "O") I am flattered that you have a Winter Avatar.
TIM!! you are super creative!! Your posts make me laugh quite loudly
around here.
On a serious note, what do you do, and what kind of job are you looking for?
I wish I could help.
John
Nice photoshop! Looks good enough to
scream
!
I'm sittin' here trying to envision
my
car in that photo. Gives me the creeps.
It is the dead of winter here, but, bravely, I drove my car to work today.
(Clear blue skies, soft breeze, temp will be in the low 80's today).
I better throw another (immitation) fire log in my (immitation) fire place.
Beats driving a HONDA! LOL!
Actually, in my closet life, I bought my wife a 2007 Honda Civic EX coupe (Atomic Blue), in the summer of 2007 before the gas prices REALLY went up. Not that I knew anything, just dumb good luck.
When I test drove it at the dealership, I got a very funny feeling inside that I only get when I test drive new Porsches. PLEASE do not ban me from Rennlist or the 996 Forums, but
I REALLY LOVE
that car! This past summer it got the nod for our summer vacation, averaging right around 40MPG for the 3,000 mile trip. And it just feels so... nice!
The Weinermobile does not see snow or icy roads, either. It has a 17 foot WHEEL BASE. Chassis and brakes are from a basic standard half-ton pick-up, with a little stretch in the middle.
But it will flat blow the tassles off the Hershey's Kisses-mobile!
Big Red
is officially 10 years old this month. Still drives as sweet as new. I guess I would be tempted to drive it a lot less in the winter months if I lived north of Florida.
I can't win. I drive the red Porsche, or I drive the Weinermobile. Either way I am accused of "compensating" for something.
Expecting 12" of snow tomorrow.
Will be interesting to see how the DD handles it. Of course, my real P Car is safely tucked away in the garage for the winter. Wouldn't dream of getting snow or salt on my baby.
Greetings from the 993TT board.
