Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1. 04 Cayenne S (Beta traded for Tit.S) 2. 06 Cayenne Tit.S (Bulletproof) 3. 02 996 Targa Immaculate and spotless w/o a scratch Lurking here and 997 for years. Despite RMS scares, found a great 996. Been an owner of a Cayenne (traded what Cay. forum calls a "beta" for a Tit.S). I've now completed the "circle of Porsche life" by buying a 911 and join the ranks of a guy with a "fun" car, too. Probably Dr. W's goal all along. "I had a dream".... really a 35-40 year old GOAL. Actually two... one to fly machines of the air, the other to own a 911. Since the 60's (i.e. as a youngster), I wanted to fly airplanes and then drive something almost as fast on the ground. I built 911 models as a kid, watched them race in Formula 1, and have gone to auto shows with "lust in my heart" whenever looking at 911's. I'm an engineer and appreciate the German approach to sports cars but couldn't rationalize the pure extravagance of owning a "garage queen" as a father of three and a struggling entrepreneur (thus the Cayenne). First dream was handled with military service and a Beech Sundowner as a civilian (long gone). Yesterday, the "almost there" of the latter goal (i.e. bought a 'practical' Porsche) was finally FULLY realized by buying a used 996 Targa. The car was a great deal and has the new PAG CPO 2 year, 50K extended warranty (includes electronics). The car was maintained by a guy who used a toothbrush to clean the wheels and crawled underneath the vehicle with pressurized air to get water, dirt, etc. off his baby's belly! It will be a Christmas present to myself that will require some type of bribe for the wife and probably some period in "time out" for doing this in a marital communication vacuum. Oh well, marriage purgatory for a few days is worth it. Only 23K miles, showroom quality, advanced technic option, tiptronic (would have preferred manual), full leather, supple leather, BOSE (is that an upgrade? ), colored crest wheels, etc. etc. Pictures are poor (cell phone), had clear markers installed (had to be ordered), and picked her up today... still raining so no "good" pics yet. Bottom line of post: Personalization recommendations? It was worth the wait and the Cayenne only added to my desire to own the iconic 911... I see my Cayenne experience as stepping stones to today's sportscar dream being realized. Pics are poor quality due to it being nearly sunset and overcast/misting when signed the deal a few days ago. Car is lapis blue with stone interior. Better pics sooner than later

POST 2Original post

Congrats on getting a nice looking Targa! Thanks for posting the pics! BTW - the interior is not called Stone Gray (that is a 997 color). It is called Graphite Gray.

POST 3Original post

Well, great write up, comes with pics and 1st mods complete... You are on top of it! Waiting SO long for the car, (waited about 30 years myself) is truly painful. Now you have it, you can make lots of trips to the garage to look at it... isn't it worth it! (yet somehow dont you wonder why you waited... and we all waited longer than we should have) BEAUTIFUL! I love Targa's... That was my dream since the 70's though I opted for a C2 when the time came to buy. Enjoy in good health, take some time and just drive it, we will all wait for you to get back! Nice color too!! (dont you think so Tim K.?)

POST 4Original post

Congratulations on the beautiful Targa! Enjoy many fun miles in it.

POST 6Original post

Congrats on the car and the dream/goal - Enjoy!

POST 7Original post

Welcome to the dream! Mine came true at the ripe young age of 46 - so I'm with you on that one. It's been three months since I got mine and I still can't believe it when I go into the garage... Early presents still don't ruin Christmas... Great color too... I couldn't work out flat bed delivery so my wife and I drove the 100 miles or so to pick mine up and when we got there there was a pristine C4 coupe in the same color blue that she fell in love with... I told her when the lease was up on her bus (Sequoia) we could look for a Boxter or Cayman in the same color for her and she said "what, you don't think I deserve a Carrera?" Seeing that color reminded me of that mistake... Anyway, congrats on a great looking car! Rudy ------------------------------------- '01 Arctic Silver/Black C2 Cabriolet '03 Silver F-150 Supercrew

My dream took 25 years before I could justify it but man oh man I am one happy camper now! Enjoy it enjoy it enjoy it! Welcome to the "club" Pete

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, so far. I was really looking for ideas on what to mod/personalize. Apparently, that comment was too close to the picture and got lost on everyone. I did post on the Cayenne forum and ltc had some good ones; but, I'd love to see and hear what you're pleased with. Thanks again.

POST 10Original post

OK here is "Page 1" on the mod list. Swap out your CD/Cassette holder with a upper shelf. Much more usable. Paint your brake calipers red Paint the top hats silver Add a spoiler switch to the upper center console Add real PSE for $1,800 or do the PSE MK II mod for about $200 Aluminum Gauge Rings ROW M030 suspension Add aluminum pedals Let me know when you have completed these and we'll move on to "Page 2."

POST 15Original post

Nice color combo, I have the same one on my car. Everything Tim said, plus add his garage door's switch Mod and third-radiator if you are scared of your baby running hot in the summer time :-) Enjoy your Targa. Cheers.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 6105662

Bao makes a good point on the 3rd radiator. However, make sure you go with the Porsche radiator. I probably should have spent the extra $100 to go OEM rather than an after market one.

Tim, please find a job. You have too much time on your hands. BTW, your car was really gorgeous!

POST 18Original post

I see Tim is getting to many mod ideas from the Honda forum... please stop going to "those" forums.

Ha ha! Just tell your wife she doesn't need to buy you a tie this year. Car looks great, Targa's are cool and a bit different.

POST 26Original post

Congratulations on the new (to you) Targa. I've had mine for about 3 weeks and even the brief ice and continuous rain haven't stopped me from driving her. As to dealing with that wifely-unit...Forgiveness is often easier to get than permission. Or at least it is at my house.

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 6106328

True about the forgiveness part. However, getting them to forget it is another thing all together. How many times have I heard: Her: "Remember back in 1978 when you....." Me: "LET IT GO, ALREADY! Back then I was young and stupid!" At least now I am old and less stupid!

POST 28Original post

Congratulations! That's one beautiful Targa. Also, great Suzuki ad, Tim. I laughed my *&#$% off. Bob

POST 30Original post

OMG is that Suzuki ad funny... It took me a couple of times to figure out that "do whatever the f*ck you want" is only the first half of the saying... It's supposed to end "as long as it's what I want..." but apparently that's implied... Long nights in the dog house learning that one! That is indeed hilarious. Well, all I can say is I may get grief but selling isn't an option! Thanks one and all for the input.
