Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I decided to take my car out after a good month or longer of not driving it and was greeted with a dead battery. I remember there was a post saying that there is a positive lead in our engine compartment and poked around. Its located to the right of the Hydraulic filler cap. It is encased with a plastic cap. I did not take a picture but if someone has a pic handy, I would be more than happy to point the location out. I hooked the jumper cable to it and was able to released the trunk as well as get my car started. There is no reason to call a tow truck or porsche for a dead battery. We can take care of the problem ourselves.

Correct! It's under the black cap to the right of the power steering fluid cap. Has a "+" on it. 1.JPG 2.JPG -td

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks td. I searched for a pic but no one has posted it before.

POST 4Original post

Wow, somebody could use an engine detail for Christmas. I'd offer to do it myself, but I wouldn't want to insult himself.

POST 5Original post

Using a battery maintainer stops the battery going dead. Also check the manufacture date, batteries seem nowadays to last about 4 -5 years.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I use public parking so battery maintainer is not an option. I also just found a mouse liviing in my trunk after being away for a month. There is no way I would want to leave any part of my car open than I have to.

POST 7Original post

I can't get into my engine compartment with a dead battery anyway. How did you get into the emg. comp?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I dunno. The hood was locked but the engine compartment release latch worked.
