Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Granted, this is not a 996 but you get the idea. They look nice to me and really break up all that guards red that I have. The ones I got have Porsche script at the bottom. Classic look and they are easily removed...magnetic. Just wanted to share

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And yes, I will take some pics when I wash the car and get a chance to post them. Anyone else with a 996 run these?

POST 3Original post

Thinking about it -- many don't but I quite like them!!!

POST 5Original post

They stopped suiting 911's after the 930 IMHO.

POST 6Original post

I have never seen them on a 996. Interested in seeing the pictures.

POST 7Original post

Maybe it would look better from different angles. I think a member (farfelsc) had black ones on a blue 997 targa, looked good. Being magnetic is a plus. They'd look too busy on a 996TT, but on a 996WB would look sharp.

POST 8Original post

i think they look great espec. if your wing mirrors or splitter or rear wing are black. How strong is the magnet - have your tried 120mph+? How much/where too if you don't mind else pm please. I'm planning on running my numbers and race stickers magnetically altho obviously doens't work on the CF bits like front hood. The sticker guy can print onto this 2-3mm magnet but it doesn't feel strong enough to stay stuck. thanks! Matt

POST 9Original post

That's a great retro look, particularly in Guards Red.

POST 10Original post

I have a magnetic set I use when I swap to black wheels for track duty. I also have the magnetic porsche number plates. I've used them for the last 2 years and reached speeds over 135 without any issues. The combo of black wheels, stone guards and porsche racing plates look great in my opinion. Go to magnagrafik.com. They sell some unbelievable graphic packages.

POST 11Original post

I saw a silver 996 C2 with a set of those in Denver last week. They looked good.

That is where I got mine from. They actually fit pretty well and look very nice. Still have to take some pics. Was busy at the shooting range today and spending some family time. I do promise pics though. They will not fall of, the magnet background holds them on very well. Also, nice you can take them off it you want a change. I kinda like the history look of them. Not that expensive either.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, crappy phone pics in my underground work garage but you get the idea. I think they really look nice on Guards Red and break it up just right.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And yes....the car is dirty and the tires need dressing....LOL. This is my daily driver. Just hit 70K on it.

POST 20Original post

sadly I don't care for it or the taillight covers.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9635401

They are not taillight covers, they are tinted LED tails that look darker in the bad garage lighting.

POST 22Original post

I used magnetic covers for years on a van going into NYC so I can park in a commercial vehicle parking zone. Pros: removable and low maintenance Cons: 1. Can easily scratch the paint if the magnet or the application surface is not clean. 2. Storing the magnets needs to be perfectly flat or in the shape of car's applied surface. Otherwise, it allows for air to get underneath it and rip it off. 3. It only lasts a few years. 4. Theft.

POST 23Original post

I've not experienced this first hand, but have read many reports that the clear coat underneath a magnetic vinyl sticker can become cloudy if water gets under the sticker and is allowed to stay there. This may be an internet myth, or it may be true, but I would look into it some before leaving something like that on the car all the time.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9636291

They are removed when the car is washed As far as theft.....not sure there is a major demand for them and they were not that expensive

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They are smoke LED lights. I got them off Amazon from a seller Redline I think. Perfect plug and play and updated look. Pics make them look much darker than what they actually are. Hope this helps. Pretty much they are all made in China though, Amazon, Ebay...all the sellers who make them.
