Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Yes, that is a test run stand I built for the 356 motors.
Leading evidence: 'Run stand i built' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run stand i built' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As some of you guys already know, I am a car-a-holic. I am addicted to buying salvaged cars and bringing them back to life. My latest project is a black 04 BMW 330i that I picked up a couple weeks ago from an insurance auction in Portland Oregon. I just made shipping arrangements for another project (1959 Maserati 3500GT) that I should have in my garage within the next week.
Here are some before and after pictures, of current and past project cars. If anybody else has pictures of their current or past projects, post 'em up....it's the middle of winter and the perfect time for a project. Before and after mod pictures would also be great.
Here are a couple more. I sold the Alfa on Ebay, about three months ago, to a buyer in the Netherlands. It took him about two months to finally arrange shipping and get the car out of my garage....now I know why sellers specify pick-up dates. The Maserati will be a lengthy restoration, but it should be fun.
You've got a great hobby/addiction. You've taken what some people do starting off playing around with mods to the major leagues. The Maserati will be a challenge I expect just from a parts sourcing standpoint. If I had the time it would be fun to develop the skills required to pull off one of these restorations. Do you make a buck or two doing it?
Love the Alfa, weren't they supposed to come back to the US again?
The Maserati might be a challenge, is it complete?
I did a complete body-off with my Vert, but don't have pictures online at the moment.
Awesome. I wish I had that talent and patience.
Do you restore to your needs and sell, or do people ask you to buy a vehicle and say, prep it for track duty?
GL with the Maserati. It's a whole different way of doing things, working on an old car. I have seen a couple of these done and a couple old Lambos. Parts are a challenge and brush up on your welding skills. Would love to see updates.
deckman, the Maserati is definately going to be a challenge on the parts. I lost money on the first few projects, but drove them long enough to make it worthwhile. I am learning to make my hobby more profitable. The latest projects, I will make decent money on, and the Maserati should be very profitable.
Meister, Alfa is coming back. I think the 8C may be here already, but it is so rare ($$$) we might not see too many. I hope the Brera comes here. The Maserati is complete. The transmission is apart and will need rebuilt. If you ever get pictures of your body-off restoration on your computer, I would love to see some.
Anderson, thanks. I buy the cars myself and rebuilt/restore them to my taste.
Hey Don, I can't wait to get the aero kit installed. I will reward myself after I finish the Maserati.
salayc, I am learning to document all of my project cars with extensive pictures. I lost the hard drive on my computer a few months back and lost hundreds of pictures. I put them all on my Ipod...if I can just figure out how to copy them off my Ipod, I will be set. Your Cutlass is gorgeous. I have always had a soft spot for the Cutlass/442s. I will post lots of pictures on the Maserati as it progresses. Fortunately no welding involved. It is a lifetime CA car and is mostly aluminum.
Gregg, the 968 looks like a great project car. I have to pay someone else to do my paint work...I wish that I could do it myself.
chsu74, thanks. The current BMW is an auto. The last one was also. I don't really care for the BMW steptronic. Both of them have had problems. The rest of the car is great.
Thanks for all the responses guys. I hope all of my Rennlist buddies have a Merry Christmas and the holidays find you and your families well.
One of my clients used to restore old aluminum coachwork Bentleys. Lot's of panel replacement involved because of the limited aluminum lifespan. It rots and gets brittle over time. Hopefully a 60's car will not have the same issues.
There's a great pic thread at
www.356registry.com
by Rusty and the tale of his 356 restoration.
Re: the Olds. I know what you mean about not profitable, especially in today's market. The car is probably worth $7-8k, and at this point I am around $25k invested.
I also love to restore cars. I like the unique cars. Cars that are made in relatively low numbers. And I don't mean one of 10 cars in a certain color with a certain option and certain engine even though 400,000 almost identical looking cars were produced. I like 356's especially but most other unique foreign cars too. Here are some past projects.
Arena, those are some gorgeous cars that you have restored. WOW!!! My favorite is the Green 356 cabriolet. I don't know very much about the 356 models, but it looks similar to a 356 "continental?" that I saw recently at a show. The owner tried to explain the differences between the various 356 models, unfortunately, he lost me. I saw an MGB hiding in the garage. That was my first car and my first restoration project. The Speedster looks like a fun project...I would imagine that is one that you will get your money back out of when you are done. Great cars. Thanks for sharing.
Something appears to be missing from picture number 6.
Yes, that is a test run stand I built for the 356 motors. I have a built up and powder coated motor on it now waiting for the speedster to be done.

Yea for the MG. I started with Triumph Spitfires as a kid to use as my DD. I crossed paths with the MG guys all the time and always wanted an A.
I miss the little British cars, I remember rebuilding a gear box and then lifting it back into place by myself. Try that with a Cutlass.
