Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

After I installed the Carbon-Fiber shifter, it sits about an inch lower, hence less distance is traveled while shifting.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

...any regrets?
I'm getting an OEM shifter at $299. I assume that is a good price.
Plan on installing the CF shifter in conjunction with the short-shifter kit that I've ordered from Schnell - discussed
here
.
Many thanks.
I love my new CF shifter. The look is very nice, especially against the arctic silver rear center console I put in at the same time.
Can't imagine I paid what I did for it, but it does make the interior look much better.

That's a great price, mind telling us where you got it, I was quoted $349
Thanks.
I'm happy with mine. It takes 0.00003 seconds off my commute due to the smooth transition from shifting to working the radio when I get sick of Mark and Brian
You'll also like the fact that the Carbon Fiber Shifter is about an inch shorter, effectively reducing the shifter travel a little bit. It is quite noticeable.
Thanks JAX GT3 - I'm also combining it with a short-shifter kit, so I look forward to overall the reduction in throw. I will post my impressions next week once installed.
Jax - I thought that I had seen somewhere that the shifter on GT3s is shorter than on std 996s. Not sure that I want to go with ssk but if are you saying that the cf shifter would shorten the throw on my 996 coupe by a little bit; that interest me very much. Thoughts?
kristap
I think that IS what he is saying kristap. A smaller radius from boot to tip means a shorter throw be default, even without an SSK.
I've ordered the CF shifter. Should arrive here by Thursday / Friday.
Saturday's going to be a busy day. Am getting the following installed:
1. 3M ArmourFend
2. Schnell Short-Shifter
3. Carbon Fibert Shift-Know with Black Leather Boot

Aren't you guys ever afraid of leaving that thing on and draining the battery. Actually not sure that it will make any difference - with the Ferrari, you used to switch the car off and the V1 would go off, with the C4S, it stays on, so I assume you can still drain the battery, even without a hardwire.
You need to tap into the correct power on/off wire in the console. Pretty easy job, takes less than a half an hour to run it all and such.
Lee - I purchased a new V1, the old one goes in the other car.
