Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would check on the price of the kit to fix the grounding problem.

The TSB also recommends that the dealer replace the belt buckles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My airbag light came on, the tech at the dealer says its the seat beat receptcale is busted.
about 500 bucks to fix, as all the wires and such are connected...
this is getting expensive...

Have a dealer check to see if the grounding problems were corrected. The TSB also recommends that the dealer replace the belt buckles. Have the dealer print out the details of the TSB for you. It is labeled "Restraints - Warning Light ON/DTCs 45, 46, 48 & 49 911 (996)" as of 1/04. Don't let them get away with making you pay for anything. Push, push and push some more. This is a safety issue as you do not know whether the air bag will work correctly when needed.
I would check on the price of the kit to fix the grounding problem. As I recall, it has a new recepticle. I don't think it was very expensive. If you have the part, putting it in is pretty easy. Maybe a 1 hour job.
PM me if the part is real expensive. I might have one laying around from when I built my race car.

My 2002 C2 had exactly the same problem, and it took 3 times to get it right. It is an issue with the grounding of the seat belt buckle. If they fixed it once and it is returning, then they really did not fix the issue. Push, Push Push.
They still wont fix it for free...
They say TSB are not Recalls..its the buckle which is damaged and thus they wont fix it.
I cant find the TSB on it too
porsche911: I still havent got your email, can you pm me?
How is the buckle damaged? Does it latch?
Even if it is damaged, all that is required to replace it is to:
1. remove the seat
2. unplug the electrical connector under the seat for the buckle assembly.
3. unbolt the buckle assembly
4. Do 1-3 in reverse.
since you live here in the Bay Area, you should join one of the "work on your car" Saturdays, and just go buy the replacement buckle, and then replace it yourself.
