Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, This board has been very informative in my search for a 996. I believe I found a great example but I have some questions: 2001 Carrera 2 / blk - tan / tip (actually preferred b/c wife) / 27000 miles, sports exhaust, technik package, clean carfax w/ no accidents. 1. Are there any reputable porsche mechanics in the Kansas City area for a full PPI? 2. What questions should I ask regarding RMS issues if any? Thank you and I hope to be valuable member soon. Mike K.

POST 2Original post

Mike, Make sure that you get a PPI done. With regard to the RMS issue, try to get the service history on the car. If it has not had a leak, there is no way to predict if it will or not. These cars are a la carte. Make sure that is has the options that you want. Some, such as PSM, can't be added after. Personally, I would not purchase one without PSM - but that's me. Others don't want it on their car. Litronics can be added, but I don't think the self leveling feature can. Lastly, don't know what your price range is, but there were significant improvements made to to the '02 model. If you can afford to move up a year, it's well worth it. Dave

POST 3Original post

Mikelli, their are several shops that can do a good job for you. Stephen Kasper, Imagine Auto, is in OP. BHR,(Bob Hindson Racing)-[phone removed]- specializes in Porsche and Audi. They are located near downtown, fairly close to Hallmark. Clark Motosports, 816-2356-2639, does a ton of Porsche work and John races. He is located in Raytown. There is alway Aristocrat, also. Their are a few other shops, but these above do excellent work. They all have an excellent reputation and I have been to all three and have been pleased.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I believe this car has all the features that I am interested in, except for the turbo of course... I have made an appointment to Imagine Auto tomorrow morning at the suggestion of Doug who is the local PCA contact here in KC; but thank you for your suggestion. I will probably try the other shops during my ownership... Yes, I would like to jump to the 02 but my budget is around $45k. Lastly, the car I am interested in has a sale price of $43500 (private party), I know its subjective but could anyone here advise me if the price is fair? Thank you, Mike

POST 5Original post

Check out chads996 he's in St louis. How's OPKS doing, grew up in prairie village, miss the plaza royals and nonbitches. Imagine is good, aritocrat, well the name says it all! Good luck. Chris

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Chris, Yes, Prairie Village is right next to me; a lot of growth (evidenced by rising home prices)... Chad's car is exceptional but we have our heart set on a blk / tan (we like the drink as well).. Mike

POST 7Original post

Thanks Chris. Mike in KS, I know mine is not a Tip, but it is an aero kit car and has low miles. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/202660-f-s-1999-996-carrera-and-goodies-updated-pics-st-louis-area.html Thanks... Chad
