It also could use a new shifter and e brake to really make it look good if anyone has them laying around...Also, here is a pic of the car when it was in Fla before I bought it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 2000 996 6 sp with 45k on it. It is silver with black partial leather. It has the CDR 220 stereo, full power seats, Suede headliner and silver gauges. Anyway, I am going to put an H&R coilover fit on it as well as a set of 18 or 19's. The car drives ok now but it seems a bit squirrly like it needs a good alignment. Basically, what i am asking is are there any other items that are a regular problem on these that I should replace at the same time? It has a few small "clunks" in the rear that are slight but I need to look into when I get the car in the air. Anything specific other than the obvious stuff I need to look for? This car will be my daily driver.. Also, I am looking for a set of Black door panels and a black or silver console if anyone had one. Mine are bad due to the fact that the previous owner had a dog that would go with him in the car...
Anyway, thanks in advance for your help! Mark
Welcome... But since you're a newbie, it is customary around here to post some pics of your new ride!
So, the previous owner let with the dog travel in the 911?
I'm just thinking about my dog and what he would do if he was ever in the 996. Are there tons of scratches?
Also, did you get a PPI done before you purchased? That usually would have answered your questions regarding anything that needed to be fixed, repaired, filled, etc... Since you are around the 45k mark, did the previous owner take it in for the 45k inspection? If not, then I would take it in and have the techs take a look at it, they can offer you professional advice. They can check the usuals... brakes, clutch, etc. and anything that might need replacing...
The console and door panels can be had at ebay or try sunset porsche. Good luck with the car, you are going to love it...
Mark, I have a passenger door panel that I have sitting around.....
I also have the rear panels if you need those too.....
To answer your question you might want to check alll your control, and track controls when you get under there.... You could have a bent one....

I actually have my dog travel with me on long distances (maybe every 6 weeks)
All you need to do is fold the back seats down, cover up everything with a large thick sheet (inc the center armrest) and put a couple of pillows up at the side panels to protect against scratches.
Thanks for the replies. I didnt do a PPI because I had a friend fly down and go over it. He is a BMW guy (Like Me) but he also knows cars ok. Anyway, I bought the car very reasonable (it has a salvage history when it was new) and I am very mechanical so I really dont mind if I need to do stuff to it. As far as the dog, yea, I am a bit pissed but I priced in the cost of a used console and door panels into the cost of the car. It also could use a new shifter and e brake to really make it look good if anyone has them laying around...Also, here is a pic of the car when it was in Fla before I bought it. It looks really boring now with the 17's with a ton of gap and no aero kit but I will change that. I really like it but I just need to give it some TLC and either sell it and make a bit of $ and buy a really nice one or just drive it every day with a smile
Please email me if you have any used black interior stuff that you want to sell. Thanks for the warm welcome.
