I figured it was the brake light switch that was faulty and called up my local Porsche dealer and they confirmed that its a very common issue with all Porsches and already had a call about the same part earlier today.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It has come to my attention that my rear brake lights (3rd brake light above the spoiler, the stock ones in the rear tail lights) are all not operational. Occasionally they flicker, but when I hit the brake they no longer turn-on when the brake pedal is pressed. I checked the fuses and the electrical diagram, but nothing seems to be the issue. Anyone have experience with this that can shed some LIGHT on this issue? (no pun intended)

Bulb is loose in the socket or a bad ground coming off of the socket.

Thanks Ahsai! I checked the brake light switch and it had dirt on one of the metal prong connectors. I cleaned it and all of a sudden the brake lights lit up, but remained on even without pressing the brake pedal. I figured it was the brake light switch that was faulty and called up my local Porsche dealer and they confirmed that its a very common issue with all Porsches and already had a call about the same part earlier today. Apparently they are a red brake light switch and also a brown brake light switch. My car used the brown brake light switch. It was an easy install and just fits right into the metal bracket and then simply plug the wire connector into the switch. Its right under the dash by the brake pedal itself. Thanks again for the tip!
