I run 32 and 35 all the time with no problems whatsoever and no bent wheels.
Leading evidence: 'Run 32 and 35 all the time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust pressures' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Have I set a certain wear pattern in my tires already with 1000 miles on them at those ridiculous pressures?

Porsche takes the effort to design and qualify special N-rated tires with subtle differences (or maybe not)which lead some here to swear they the only things we should use, but then they are off by 20+% in the recommended inflation pressures....?

My Boxster S was much more gentle riding at factory recommended pressure.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have 18" Michelin Pilot Sports and are precisely set at 36 front--44 Rear. The ride is SO harsh I am afraid of doing damage to car and jarring the interior loose. My Boxster S was much more gentle riding at factory recommended pressure. Any input?
Thanks
Hmmmm... Porsche takes the effort to design and qualify special N-rated tires with subtle differences (or maybe not)which lead some here to swear they the only things we should use, but then they are off by 20+% in the recommended inflation pressures....? I agree that the recommended pressures seem REALLY high, but they are the same as the ones Ruf recommends. I am perplexed, as always...
i run my c2 tires at the lower suggested pressure...have had no problems...and handling is minimally affected...if you are going to the track..go back to recc range...for in town and touring softer works and also helps keep down body squeaks from the harsh impacts
Keep in mind, though, that you're getting less protection for your 18" rims @ lower pressures. This is primarily why I keep mine near the factory recommended pressure...
stiles, good point. i hadn't thought about that reason. recommended pressure is so harsh for highway driving. anyone bend their rims on lower pressures?

You should in fact reduce pressures at the track as tires get even hotter and hot pressures rise even more. I run 32 and 35 all the time with no problems whatsoever and no bent wheels.

I'll echo what Viken says, I will run lower pressures at the track depending on track conditions, anywhere from 31/35 to 34/39 hot pressures. On the street I usually run the factory specs of 36/44, but often I will run 35/39 cold pressures. I don't think you'll have any trouble with these specs, FWIW the street GT3 spec ('99-00) is 35/39.
viken, kwc,
Are these lower tire pressures ok for 03 c4s, to make the ride a little gentler, which my wife always complain of.
Hope it doesn't affect the handling much, 'cause the break-in doesn't say anything about cornering, and most of my cornering brings out the flashing porsche stability management.

And, as I said above, the handling improves with lower pressures. This subject has been discussed more than extensively in the past on both the 996 and 993 forums. If you do a search for tire pressures, you'll find a lot of good info.
I've run our 2002 C2 (18" P Zero Rossos) at 36/44 since we took delivery in December 2001. We have 13,000 miles on her right now.
Wear pattrens for the rears suggest they're overinflated. Fronts look good.......
