Let me chime in as I recently installed the X-73 suspension on my 996C4.

Suggestion

So, their conclusion was that the lower center of gravity matched to the slightly stiffer shocks and bars made the 996 take advantage of the sport setting much better than the US sport suspension.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I actually searched for a while and I was unable to find many pictures of the ROW M030 installed (found one only). I would appreciate if someone could post some pictures of their car with this setup installed especially on a cab. I'm trying to decide which way to go on the suspension... Thanks!

POST 2Original post

ditto that - I gotta get my ride lowered ROW v X74 v PSS9/10??? I just want it lowered, do not need adjustability

POST 3Original post

^ if you DD, I suggest ROW. If you track 5+ times a season X74.

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 7770944

DD only - do you know (roughly) how far each lowers the car? price comparison?

POST 6Original post

I am not sure but if you PM Gert at Carnewal, who is a sponsor, he will get exact numbers for you.

POST 7Original post

Do a search on the forum for "ROW v X74 v PSS9/10". Copy and paste into 996 'search form tab' and eureka!

POST 8Original post

Let me chime in as I recently installed the X-73 suspension on my 996C4. It significantly lowered the car without making the ride too harsh. I find the turn-in much faster and more precise, and the body roll is almost elimanted. I had also looked at the PSS10, which required all kinds of additional parts (sway bars, mounts) and decided to go with the complete package which my mechanic ordered from Gert. FYI i attend 4 to 5 DE events each summer, and the car handled so much better on the track.. I will try to attach a pic for you to see the difference.

POST 9Original post

Note that the PSS10's are not really height adjustable, this is a common misunderstanding, one that I also made when buying my PSS10's. The actual range of height adjustment "approved" by Bilstein is only about 5mm and is really for corner balancing. While the coilovers will allow for more adjustment it is not recommended as it affects the performance of the shocks. The real adjustability of the PSS10's is the damping on the shocks, and this is a nice feature. The PSS10's lowered my car by an inch or so. Ride is great and handling is much improved.

POST 10Original post

Mine is just a daily driver - no track events. The european sport suspension is perfect for this car! Here are pics w/ and w/o the hardtop.

Here is a pic of mine with the X74...I'm 526. http://photobyedmund.smugmug.com/Nor...32301629_Zcsf5

This is mine with the ROW030 from the factory.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you very much guys! I think I am going to go with the ROW the ride height looks pretty good to me, You can definitely tell the difference. Porsche -t what size wheel and tire combo are you running?

POST 14Original post

Why is ROW M030 so much better than the US M030? Is there something wrong with the US M030? I don't track my P car, I do have spirited driving moments, and have 'domestic' M030 suspension and I have to say it's tighter than you know what. Is ROW so much better as it pertains to regular world (spirited) driving?

POST 15Original post

Beautiful car and amazing wheels, nice...

POST 16Original post

Row M030 lowers the car about 1cm while the US M030 is same height as US nonM030. Not sure about sway bar differences. There was a classic article on the differences of these 2 suspension setups on the Panorama magazine back in '02. It used to be available on their website, but it has been buried for a couple of years. It would be great if someone could post the article here. So, their conclusion was that the lower center of gravity matched to the slightly stiffer shocks and bars made the 996 take advantage of the sport setting much better than the US sport suspension.

POST 17Original post

X74 costs more for a C2 than C4....weird to me, adn I'm a little bummed about it. def want a lower Pcar, but wondering if it's worth ~10% of the car's value

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 7773286

your suspension is "tight" because you have huge wheels and tires with little/no sidewall. ROW is just lower, with slightly more roll stiffness. the actual spring-rates are supposed to be pretty close. (from my reading).

I bought my car for $34.5K 3 years ago and have thrown about $15K into it with upgraded parts and maintenance. The car is worth $22K on a good day now. Is it wise? No but I love that damn thing and so it is worth it to me. There is no way I will find something comparable to my setup for what the market is willing to pay for it today.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 7773286

ROW 030 is 20mm lower than the USA 030. Also, I believe the springs are a little stiffer.

Right on, I can see how 2cm would give the car a better look, lower center and better handling. The ROW M030 is higher performance. Maybe because the roads in Europe are in better condition? Here in So. Cal the roads are better than most in the US but I have to say not great by any means. Thanks

Sweet ride!! Maybe some tinted windows would really put it over the top? Just because I think the white with tint would look good.
