I'll check FVD for the brake lines as long as they are good quality and don;t have cheaply made ends that will corrode to hell.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It looks like Dunnville Autodrome (Hamilton area, 45 minutes from Toronto) is available for lapping this Sunday, January 09, 2005. Yes, you heard it right: lapping in January in Ontario. The weather should be warm and dry enough for us (anywhere between 8 to 13 degrees) to have a ton of fun from 11:00 to 4:00. Cost is $200 per car and we can cancel if the weather turns ugly. Who is in?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

From Long Island? Forget it, it's about 600 miles. Where in Long Island are you? I grew up in Dix Hills many years ago before we moved to NYC and now Toronto.

POST 4Original post

Damn you alon. my car is in a state of dissassembly right now. i didn't expect lapping to still happen in the winter. there is call for quite a bit of snow and freezing rain at the end of this week...watch out.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A state of dissassembly right now? How bad is it? I'll help you piece it together for Sunday. As far as the weather goes, Snow/rain this Thursday and with above-zero temperatures all weekend and as high as 13 on Sunday. Yahoo! ! ! ! ! Let's go or go rent a Miata or something for the day. How often are you going to get to lap in January in Toronto?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Even further then. Go south !

POST 8Original post

We've got a pair of Miata demo's sitting on our lot rite now, I think i'll have to erm...saftey them at dunville. as for the state of disassembly its nothing major, but because I expected winter to be complete ***, i sold my seats (GT3's will be here in a week or 2 since UPS is lazy) and now have no seats, Itook off the exhaust and will probably cut and weld a new one because the clamps and mounts and stuff have broken and seem to vibrate loose with the bypasses. I'm also bleeding air from a rear tire so i'll need to replace that. Its fine for daily driving but i wouldn't trust it at the track, better safe then sorry. There's some other stuff that needs to be put back toghether (body pannels, underbody stuff, little htinkgs i was cleaning and nitpicking about) nothing major but won't be ready by the weekend.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well then, the Miata may work for you afterall. I have my winter car, a 2003 GTI that I can use if I don't want to take the Porsche. Woo-hoo ! !

POST 10Original post

^ hey alon...what do the RUF pedals look like? do they have that jutted piece on the gas pedal to make heel-toe easier?

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here's a link for them. They don;t have the section that sticks out but they are wider than the stock pedals and if you calculate it right, you can mount the brake pedal cover closer to your gas pedal to decrease the distance between the two pedals. http://www.weissach.com/ruf_parts_de...id=R9640042300 By the way, what brake lines are you using on your car?

POST 12Original post

stainless braided lines... www.fvd.de wow..those RUF ones are nice...but soo expensive.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Ruf pedlas are an absolute rip-off but I got a great deal from Pfaff a few years ago and have transfered them from the previous car to this car. I have seen others like the ones from Carnewal and I'm certain that no one is as expensive as Ruf. I'll check FVD for the brake lines as long as they are good quality and don;t have cheaply made ends that will corrode to hell. Thanks

POST 14Original post

Can't make it but what's the scoop with track days and insurance....read on the Upper Canada region club some scary stuff.....according to them 1- you're likely not covered 2- Just asking your insurance can be a very a bad thing 3- even getting 3rd party track insurance can affect you're normal coverage !!!!!! Is that overreacting ? What do most people do in Canada ?

POST 15Original post

everyone i know pretty much runs without special track insurence under the knowledge that their normal policy won't cover them. then again those people don't drive GT3's. i can't see how insurence would bump ur rates if you ask them because they don't even cover you at the track. and in that case, your not going to make a claim if u do crash, so they have no say in anything.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Due to an unfortunate (and somewhat expected) turn of weather, I will not be holding this lapping day. It looks like the weather is going to be 1 degree at best with more than 50% chance of rain/snow. Damn Canadian winter weather! That said, if anyone is interested in a winter driving course, I have a few friends who are going to be attending one on February 05. If anybody wants details, let me know.

POST 17Original post

Hey Dead Eye, i just bought some good looking pedals on ebay...$ 118.50... not a bad deal Clicky clicky http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33700

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice deal and they look great. They are about 1/6th. the cost of Ruf pedals !

POST 19Original post

hey Alon..like totally fer shur! like oh my god

POST 20Original post

Darn! and I was just about gathered up with courage to come out and try this

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry. With the weather being called for, you'd be better off going in the Zodiac Why don't you try that Winter Driving School by Ian Law on February 05 in Minden, Ontario?

POST 22Original post

Alon: Good Idea. I never know beyond 2 weeks just exactly where I'll be but yes it is a great idea. I got the Zode all buffed and ready, it's like sitting on a 90 HP basketball at 50 mph.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been on those Zodiacs before and yes, they are an absolute blast. If the snow is deep enough, it just might work...

POST 25Original post

Yeah, but what about all the flames for the hitch install. You wanna be my door gunner?

POST 26Original post

sure..im going..leaving from toronto tuesday night or wed morning
