Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Good luck with the search and fun test driving them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am new to this forum. And i apologize in advance if this subject has been discussed prior.
I have heard that early 996s have had engine/transmission reliability problems. Has this been solved by 03?
In addition, has anyone had eperience with the x51 and m030 options?
The car doesn't have any reliability problems. The 996 model's achilles heal is the RMS, which has been discussed ad nauseam and you can easily do a search for relevant threads.
I have the 40th anniversary model which has both options and it is a great car. Stunning power and handling. I actually wanted better track handling so I put on Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and a custom alignment. Whether or not the X-51 is worth the money will depend on your pocket book and your taste. The owners with this option are generally very happy with it.
Lax14, the 996 was Porsche's best selling 911 model to date. It's a great car that got a bad rap by some by not being 911 enough. I guess that meant that the interior was too quiet because its performance is stunning. You'll appreciate the comfortable interior after an hour or more in the car. I drive mine daily and have enjoyed it on the race track. It handles everything without breaking a sweat or breaking down. I've only had to change brake pads. You should be able to find a very nice 03 that meets your budget. Good luck with the search and fun test driving them.
My '03 is a daily driver also and has been no problem to me. You will appreciate the extra torque in the '02 and newer, plus when the variocam kicks in at 5K WOT with sports exhausts the experience is, well, pure Porsche!
I'm loving my '03 C2.
She just passed 11,000 miles. I changed the oil and rear tires at 7,600 miles. Other than that and an aftermarket stereo (Eclipse and Canton) I haven't done a thing to her. She doesn't burn any oil and just seems to keep getting stronger. I couldn't be happier.
