Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i got nothing against him, but his choices are ones that i would not duplicate for myself or recommend for anyone else.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend anyone else' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend anyone else' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There's a lot to this subject.
I'd only go with Philips or Osram bulbs. I believe Porsche equips their headlights with Philips bulbs like most other car manufacturers.
OEM will always be 4100K-4300K. Don't go with any other brand outside of the two. Any higher Kelvin, you are throwing out less light (i.e. decrease in lumens). The higher up you go in Kelvin value, the more blue/barney it gets.
Highest that Philips makes is 6000K. a little less lumens, noticeably bluer.
Think about why lighting engineers decided on 4300K.
-Closer to daylight; human eye is used to it
-The Barney lights will tire you out
-Safety
and it's the flicker that's cool. not the constant blue/purple color. this is all a result of the projector lens working with the HID bulb.
Enjoy!
I was looking at the McColluch kit that another member installed and seems to be having good results with. The kit is offered in 5000K, 6000K, 8000K, and 10,000K. I guess I'll look at the 5000K kit since this would be closer to OEM. How much to the Phillips or Osram kits sell for?
Thanks
It's not a kit that they sell. They just make the bulbs.
I'm assuming you have the litronics option on your porsche?
if so, did a bulb go out?
mccolluch sounds like a joke if they're selling 8K+ bulbs with their "kit".
just check to see who makes their HID bulbs... and let us know
No OEM Litronics so anything will be an upgrade over my halogens.
Here was the original thread....

Here is the kit I found on ebay:

Any advice?
based off of my quick read, sounds like the kit the dude bought was just bulbs and ballasts on a halogen setup.
sorry, but you can't replicate a $1000+ factory option for a mere $300 even if it is aftermarket.
issues i see with the kit at a high-level are:
-thehalogen OEM setup on his porsche doesn't have projector lenses which means it wasn't meant for/designed to put out light with HID bulbs
-the above leads to major glare issues and throws out the light in a dispersed manner that's not focused at all in comparison to a proper project/hid bulb setup (OEM litronics)
-the above two things leads to legit safety concerns not just for you, but for the public that shares the road with you
What would I do?
-I'd pony up and get the full OEM kit replacement with projector lenses, bulbs, all that stuff included... or at least get the projector housing and match it up with the proper Philips 4300K bulb mated to the appropriate ballast
-otherwise, i'd stay stock. the stock halogen design is superior (and legal) to the setup the other dude has on his car now.
you get what you pay for here. especially for such an important item as automotive lighting.
6000K on his range rover sounds sketchy too. esp if he's rollin' in the older model year since it doesn't even offer HIDs from the factory. i got nothing against him, but his choices are ones that i would not duplicate for myself or recommend for anyone else.
