This is not a probability of success.

Can't remember how much repair cost, but it wasn't too bad I think.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2001 996 coupe (72k) has an oil leak. It is dripping down on the header on the drivers side and will leave a small spot on the floor. Hoping maybe it's a valve cover or something simple. Anyone have a similar experience? Smells like some of my old air cooled 911's. :-)

POST 2Original post

It's probably just leaking spark plug tube(s). Same symptoms happened to me and that's what it was. It would leak onto the driver's side header. Can't remember how much repair cost, but it wasn't too bad I think.

POST 3Original post

It could be a couple different things. Look where the oil is coming from, not where the end drip is. If it is above the header, then it is probably a valve cover leak. If it is coming from the front of the block where it meets the transmission, it is either the IMS or RMS.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
