they dont' with their 19s on the 996 i believe the last time i checked when i was looking around.

I'm sure these are common widths for many of you who changed from stock--did you change camber settings or leave at stock.

Suggestion
No need to adjust camber, but 11.5" is pretty wide for the back on a narrow body with stock bushings.

you can run 12s in the back on your c4s fyi, but not sure if champion makes the 18s in 12s.

Suggestion
so long as the wheel width/offsets are good and you dont' run some messed up tire sizes, you should be fine but there are so many wheels that people buy that don't fit it's nto even funny
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi again. What's worse than a rookie? A rookie that's also an engineer. . . we worry too much.
Anyway, looking at new wheels for my C4S. Stock widths, of course, are 8" and 11" New wheels are 8.5 and 11.5. (leaning towards 18" Champions)
I'm sure these are common widths for many of you who changed from stock--did you change camber settings or leave at stock. (the main reason I'm asking is that stock already results in more wear on the inner edge of the tire, so with wider tires I thought that it might get worse)
Should be fine with 18's as long as the backspacing is correct. Also, be sure that the offset on the wheels is correct for your model car. (meaning - turbo, GT2, C4S).
C.
Thanks for the instant replies! Offsets should work out. Champions are 45 F and 44 R. Little different than stock, but not too far off.
Front will be only 1mm less clearance inside, and extend 11mm more. Rear will be 5mm less clearance and 7mm more extension.

Thanks for the reply--I really appreciate the free help
Yeah, i've noticed from here and 6speed lots of expensive mistakes-- so I want to be sure. Sounds like I am in good shape, however. And plan to buy from a reputable place.
No need to adjust camber, but 11.5" is pretty wide for the back on a narrow body with stock bushings. You will need to be careful with your wheel offsets and tire choices. Don't be surprised if you have to roll fenders. Running 315s on 11.0" wheels doesnt' seem to be a problem though.
Crazy - man, we just got the engineer convinced that these wheels will work and now you want to throw another "variable" into the mix? I guess you have never worked with an engineer!
BTW - just kiding!
OK, i'll bite. . . question is more WHY 19s? My impression is that 18s are generally better for performance, better ride, more selection, but not as trendy. Kind of funny--threads on the other forums about going from 19s to 18s. Perhaps we can all trade
Plus I would have to buy pss9s, a wing, move to California--it's just too much!
Increased weight
Increased ride harshness
Increased cost
More expensive tires
Decreased performance
and that's just off the top of my head.....
then again 19's are blingalicious...
a typical track nerd/hobby racer's response who has a hard time dealing with the fact that no one cares about your laptimes unless your last name is schumacher/tsuchiya/hamilton/gordon.
Wow, looks like I struck a nerve....
Just re-read my post and I never mentioned track use. All those points are important considerations for street use.
But hey, I can be open minded about this.
Turn the question around.
Why, (other than their aformentioned blingalicious nature) should the OP put 19's on the car???
Maybe you could list all the reasons you believe 19's are the better choice (rather than an ad hominem argument that fails to address any of my points).
OP back again . . . Thanks for the answers and comments . . . rennlist is a great place for answers, and never, never short of opinions either. Think I will send in membership fee today!
Regarding the wheel order--still with my winter wheels for a few months, but will pull out the VISA early next spring, but planning is 1/2 the fun
