This is not a probability of success.

I'd love to replace the rims and headlights (both have burn spots) but they are mods that need wife approval first....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
Replacement of the side markers on my 1999 996.
Yes it's a modest mod but makes the car look much better (and newer).
Next up...the changing out of the rear center brake light for a LED one.
Of course I kept the orange ones just in case I ever want to switch back to the original options. Maybe the next one will be taking out the cassette holder for the tray for more space????
My CD player I think is fried...the 6-pack won't eject so maybe I'll replace that next. I'd love to replace the rims and headlights (both have burn spots) but they are mods that need wife approval first....
Totally EXCELLENT choice for your second mod! Someone here may actually have one to sell or give to you. But still not all that ugly to purchase. And only a 30 second DIY in the driveway mod that will give you years of pleasure (and extra storage)
Note: The upper and lower trays are not the same shape so be certain to get the correct one.
And since you want to replace that CD player, you can simply find a nice original 220 series that someone has pulled out of their car to trash the dash with some glitzy aftermarket thing. Check the member ads...
Amberectomy next.... free and you learn how to remove your headlights (a 10 second operation)
(amberectomy takes about an hour +)
silver bulbs +1
skip LED 3rd light +1
check the wattage on the headlight bulbs, you seem to be burning the inner lens... that is a HUGE $$$ mistake, check them!
the old one broke.... best excuse ever
when my wife sat in the GT3 seats for the first time (about 2 months after I installed them.... she sat down, put on the seat belt... I drove about a block, she lifted her a$$ up while turning back to see the seat and said "BULLSH!T !! when di you get these?" - I simply said, the old ones broke
Pete, I fixed it for you.... and that ^ is most certainly true.
In the 39 months I had my '04 996, I put 10 new tires on it and paid cash for 8 of them. As far as my wife knew, I only put 2 new tires on the car during that time.
