Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi fellas, I was wondering who is youngest here ever own his or her first Porsche, using their own money not from the parents.

POST 4Original post

32 EDIT: First brand new 911? Maybe be more specific.

POST 6Original post

34.. Looks like I have been wasting time compared to you fellas.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 15Original post

32... Powers of 2 have always been good to me.

POST 18Original post

35 for my 944 S2 cab (god that car sucked). 41 for my 911 (god this car rocks). -- M

POST 20Original post

18 years old believe it or not. It was 1973 and I bought a 67 911 coupe for $2,400. That was alot of money back then.

POST 22Original post

I'll let you know how old I am when i finish my last couple of payments

POST 23Original post

22 (the 996 I own now). I love how there are so many p-car owners purchasing at younger ages, it's good to know the group here is doing well..... I had a boxster S previously, but that was paid by my parents. I'm curious, for all those out there who answered 18-19, what type of work are/were you doing? I find it hard enough to pay off the 996 (and the extensive mods) in the early-mid twentites... I can only imagine if you are 18

POST 24Original post

Jon, Im sure you're not struggling anymre the way you're modding up your car these days!haha! Investment banking?!

POST 25Original post

I was 26 when I purchased my first, a 1978 911SC Coupe

POST 26Original post

Jon, I answered 23, but the fact that 996s haven't held their value very well definitely helped me into mine (working for a successful internet company did the rest). Seriously. My car was $73k new... less than half of that used. And I still have CPO coverage and bought it with 44k on the clock. Granted, there's a lien on the car, but I actually have more in my checking account than I need to pay off the loan -Justin

POST 27Original post

18. I bought an 83 944 in 1995. I paid $5500 for it and financed it. (I also paid trough the *** in interest rates) 3 mo later I trade it in for an 86 that was $6000 and got $5k for my trade in so I only had to finance an extra $1k.

POST 29Original post

I was 21 when I bought my 944 sold it and bought a Corvette at 28 and bought my 996 at 40. At this rate I am hoping for an Auston Martin by the time I am 50

POST 30Original post

stocks. for a reasonable chunk. one timer deals for the rest. life was good before telecom went **** up

POST 33Original post

27, exactly 10 years after I was kicked out of a Porsche dealer show room. But not before I snatched a "new" at that time 911 brochure, which I kept all these years. But once bitten by the "bug" I was ruined for life, nothing on the road will satisfy me like a 911!!!! A little car history. 82 Chevy Monte carlo (Before the low rider days), 82 Celica GTS hatch back, 84 Celica GTS coupe, 82 Supra, 85 CRX, 86 MR-2, 90 Honda Accord, 88 MBZ 260E, 94 MBZ E320, 96 SL320, 96 993, 97 BMW 328is, 00 BMW 323ci, 99 996C4 All were purchased with my own blood and sweat except the stupid chevy. All my life I have been slaving for my cars.......

POST 34Original post

I can't actually remember...but I'm guessing I was 32...1980 911SC

POST 35Original post

25 exactly 3 years ago. Worked my *** off to buy a Gorgeous 99 c2 cab (Which I'm now selling in the classfieds-it's a freaking beauty), and just ordered my 2006 c2s cab. I worked up to buy these cars from zero, and paid cash for them, so the pride in ownership for me is truly exhilarating. I was in the porsche envy thread before this and wanted to comment. I'm one of the most humbled guys around that loves his wife and family more than anything. The second I was seen driving a p-car at 25, the jealousy amongst some long time friends came out. These are guys that knew me in my honda accord and ford taurus. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS SH_T. It's only a car, but unfortunately, some will just never learn what is important in life.

POST 36Original post

I had to buy myself my '03 C4S for my 29th birthday... because nobody I asked would buy one for me.

POST 37Original post

33, two year old CPO C2 (O2), worked hard for it

POST 38Original post

I was 25 when I purchased my first Porsche, a CPO 1999 C2 Cabriolet - Basalt Black! Drove the heck out of it for 3 years and picked up my current 2004 40th Anniversary 996 about 18 months ago when I turned 29.

POST 43Original post

When I was 18 I bought a 14-year-old 356 for $500. I drove it as-is for about 6 months before the floorboards rusted right through and the driver's seat fell to the ground. Fortunately, the Super 90 engine bolted right into a 1961 Beetle that I picked up for a hundred bucks, and I had the coolest hotrod in my school. Funny that a 14-year-old car doesn't seem too bad these days. But back then a car that old was ancient and worthless. I've owned a Porsche consistently now for 33 years. "02 C2, driven daily - rain, snow or shine.

POST 44Original post

16 - that was umm - 19 years ago... a 912 which i paid 4,000.00 for which was too much - the first time it rained the car floored (as in completely leaked from every seal - water would be 2" deep in the rear seat wells ) if anyone ever wants to talk about rust - i've got some stories (this was a FLA car, in FLa)

POST 46Original post

bought it 4 days ago and loving every minute of it

POST 47Original post

LOL Please.... If I'm modding it up, you ARE The mod KING at the moment Slow down james! No i-banker here... Been fortunate to make enough change to invest in a few different ventures in Asia. Thank god they are doing well or I would be taking the bus right now. Once it gets warm enough to venture outside, let's do drinks man!

POST 48Original post

36 brand new 944 kept it eight years never did like that car.also bought and kept three homes.had A 964 coup eight years loved that car.now 996 cab feels A lot like A 964 only 996 much nicer.

POST 51Original post

Personally, before I got my license at 16 I knew I was going to need a hot car so I got to work saving. I designed many websites for my first $10,000 which I bought my e36 with. After a happy year with it, I sold it, and began buying and selling cars for a profit using my dealership connection to buy cars of interest to me at wholesale and drive them until they sold. I have been through a good handful of cars (and a few bikes) and have now finally made my way up to the 996. I love the 996 and actually the next thing on the plate is a GT3 but I need this 996 sold! God bless forever wanting more.

POST 53Original post

39, 91 928 S4 40, 01 996 Cabrio 40, 02 996 Targa Seem to be on of the oldest on this forum. But before I moved to Spain, from Denmark, it wasnt possible for me to buy a Porsche -- In Denmark the prices are triple because of tax. Anyway, Malaga is a perfect place for Porsche with 300+ sunny days -- Denmark only have about 30 (-:

POST 54Original post

21....Bought myself a 1984 944n/a for my birthday.......My dad totaled it about 8 months later......then I got a 1986 951, which I sold about 4 months ago.....Now, I'm looking for a 1999 996.

POST 55Original post

When I was 21 I bought my first Vette. $3933 new in 1963. Porsches were slow weeny cars back then. A lot of money I was only making $6600 and my wife about $3000. 5 Vettes later I bought my first Porsche in 1999.

POST 56Original post

Bought my 944 at 32 added a Boxster 6 months later, then sold both 1 year later and got the 996. The P Bug has infected me with its venom.

POST 57Original post

30. My motivation is a little different. I was in the World Financial Center on Sept 11th. The event forced me to reasses and pushed me to do some of the things I was working for in the future, today. The whole process started with a Audi S4, which quickly turned into a Porsche.

POST 58Original post

36, but never too late to start! This is my 12th vehicle in 20 years.

POST 60Original post

i was there @8:30AM, got out around 9AM. my process started with our first daughter, then second daughter. followed by a porsche. my message is clear, make love, not war!!!

POST 61Original post

Was 35. Always bought good road cars (Hondas and Toyotas) because I spent over 200 days a year travelling doing clubs. Always wanted a Porsche, so when I got established in Vegas, I traded in the Civic. Wish I would have known 10 years ago how much I would enjoy driving the P Car.

POST 62Original post

at 24 i bought my bedroom wall poster car - a Lotus Esprit Turbo SE. Mustard Yellow. Awesome performance car with unbeatable handling - when it was working!! It forced me to buy a porsche by living up to its acronym - L ots O f T rouble U sually S erious at 26 i bought a 1998 Boxster. Sold the Boxster last October and replaced it with a new Audi A4 estate TDI, believeing that a new baby and a shiny new Audi estate would cure my car addiction. Totally wrong!! 2 months later (now 30) i got my 996 Carrera 4 cab. and thanks to the quinny stroller it can be a good weekend car for the family!!

POST 64Original post

25 The black 996 (1999) that I bought 2 months back. Love it !!

POST 65Original post

22, in college, bought a 3 year old 964 cab. drove for one months, realized no way in hell can i afford to maintain or insure it. sold it and made $2k off of it (that's including paying tax, i still made $2k profit)... at 33, bought my first new p car, 2002 box S. after that it was all down hill. 97 993 c2s 02 996 c4s 02 996 c2 04 996 c2 04 996gt3 05 996gt3 06 cayman s x2 and many bmw, miata, and audi's.

POST 66Original post

19.... In 1959 I bought a 1952 Club Racer "Spyder", for $125. from an auto wrecker whos couldn't junk it for more than $25, because it was so light. The car deserved to be there. That was before the romance took over......

POST 67Original post

18 yrs, 914 1.7L for $3,800. I bought it without my parents knowledge and kept it at a friends house for about 2 weeks. It was a beautiful example and lot's of fun but not very reliable. It later spent most of it's time broken in Mom and Dad's garage. I later sold it while in College, not running, for $2k. My first real Porsche, a 996 C4 was purchased at 30.

POST 68Original post

RED 914 1.7. I don't recall the yr model...............

POST 70Original post

'99 996 at 25, 3 years ago. Still mine and I love it.

POST 72Original post

At 24 I bought my first Turbo - a 1986. Then 2 years later, an 89. So far that has been my favorite car of all - drove like a race car with a very stiff clutch - especially compared to the 996.

POST 74Original post

57! I win. My C4S is my first P-car - many BMWs, Audi's and even a perfect '65 e-type fixed head coupe and a '67 Triumph TR4A-IRS. After all is said and done, there truly is no substitute!! Phil

POST 76Original post

23...back in 1993. It was an '88 944. Owned if for just over five years and about 150k miles as my only driver.

POST 77Original post

I always have loved the e-type, especially the coupe. My brother in CT now owns it. The car, matching #s, now has >$100K in total restoration costs, and is a perfect 100 point car. When I had it, I scored a 99.96 at a national JCNA event. Problem was it was purely a car to show - the C4S is to drive - which is why I ultimately sold the Jaguar.

POST 78Original post

I was 19 - it was a 6 month old 914 but, only had it 1 month and traded it for a 2 y.o. 911T

POST 79Original post

I was 23 when I got my 996 [it was a company sales perk], then 24 when I purchased my first Porsche, a 1997 993 Coupe. I am extremely fortunate.
