I'm running Conti's on the front and Michelin's on the rear with no problems.

"If a vehicle was originally delivered with N-specification tires that have been discontinued and are no longer available, it is recommended to change all four tires to a higher numeric N-specification design appropriate for that vehicle.

I'd not mix tires if I were using these for performance driving or track on summer tires.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, so I was a bit of a gypsie today. I was quoted $1750 for some winter tires for my 2004 C4 and then a colleague told me of places that have good second hands. I went for a look and they had some nice pirelli tires 3 in total. Then the guys said, hang on, I got some nice good year's for the front. I hummed and haaed and eventually said ok. It only cost $320 for the lot and they both have about 80% of the tread still there.
2 front and 2 back tires are the same.
The question to you guys is, is it safe? No worries if not I can just go and get 2 pirelli's for the front but TBO it feels fine and they both have the same speed rating.
Recommend to install in sets of 4, but honestly I don't think it matters unless your rally racing on snow covered roads. Normal daily and you won't have a problem.
My rears always wear out before my front and I never install install them in sets of 4 i just replace the rears.
I'm running Conti's on the front and Michelin's on the rear with no problems. They are not winter tires and I don't drive my car in the winter. I don't know about Goodyears???
'N' rating is the Porsche seal of approval. There is so much debate on the validity of this measure that you could be reading for years in this forum. As for 'V' rating, that is the speed rating for the tire and means it is good up to approx. 240 kph (just had to get in the metric system).
As for tire prices, the 1750 quote is highway robbery. Tire Rack and Discount Tire can both do better, but tires for Porsches are lean in inventory now as we enter the season. Perhaps that's why you got such a high quote.
And as for the Goodyear comment, their new max sport tire is supposed to be phenomenal (the Eagle F1 G3-D3), and I'll be able to offer you a much better review of their "Ultra Grip" winter tire after the season. I just bought them for my 18" wheels; they cost $730 for all four.
Yo, i converted it to USD for you yanks as I know if I wrote in czech crown you would not have a clue
So the price was $1750 according to

In any case. All seems fine with these tires for now and I got an extra $1400 to spend on something else now
Here's a link to more info on N-rating for those who are unfamiliar with it and would like to read more:

Yes yes. The N-rating discussion again. Am I to presume that Ferrari, Corvette, BMW, Aston Martin, and Audi are less demanding in their tire specifications? IMHO, the n-rating is a recommendation, but not a requirement. Many manufacturers likely do not want to bother with the hassle of testing and specifying their tires twice to appease a small portion of the sports car tire market.
Think of it as a premium mark-up; many of you will purchase a B&M short shift kit and Fabspeed exhaust, both of which are not N-rated, when clearly OEM alternatives exist. Why the hypocrisy? Good products are good products.
In my experience, I have driven both N-rated and non-N-rated tires, and if Contisport 2 tires (yes, I know, here I go again) are any indication, N-rated tires stink (alright, I did love the Bridgestones)!
The moral: choose wisely and drive safely.
"If a vehicle was originally delivered with N-specification tires that have been discontinued and are no longer available, it is recommended to change all four tires to a higher numeric N-specification design appropriate for that vehicle. Mixed tire types are not permissible"
Oh dear..."Mixed tire types are not permissible" Looks like have committed a porsche sin by having different tire types
These are snow tires we are talking about. I don't think it'll matter since you won't be pushing hard with snow tires and they are not meant to go fast. I don't think N spec has much to do with this topic.
I'd not mix tires if I were using these for performance driving or track on summer tires. For snow tires, traction is so low (usually .6-.7 g on a sports car/sedan) that mixing should be no harm. Tread depth is probly more relevant.
