Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
You should check your extended warranty for terms to see if the battery is still covered.
Leading evidence: 'Check extended warranty' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check extended warranty' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Went to fire up the car and she was dead today. Last time I drove it was last weekend. I washed it and pulled it into the garage. After a week, the key remote doesn't work (normal after 4+ days of sitting) so I unlocked it with the key, got in and click, click, click, click....no firing.
I only have about 8V on the battery, so I assume the battery is drained (turned lights on and they are dim), but do not know what drained it....any thoughts? (no, I did not leave the lights on or door open). Also, interestingly, when the starter is clicking, the passenger windows moves up and down randomly up to an inch - pretty cool).
thoughts?
The 996 also has a relatively high pull on the battery when shut off. If your battery is weak or old, the normal drain from the car can kill the battery off pretty quickly.
This time of the year has the highest mortality rate for 996 batteries of any time of the year. The cool (cold) weather will do them in pretty quick. The original one on my 02 996 finally gave up the ghost for good last week. Thankfully mine was still under warranty.
These cars have many systems that draw power even when the car is "off", so it is a good thing to try to drive them at least once a week, or keep them on a battery maintainer.
Orient,
your battery was covered under warranty? My car is a CPO so it still has warranty, but I would not have thought that the P-warranty covers this. Was it Porsche or the battery warranty?
Yes, the battery is covered under the vehicle manufacturer's 4 yr. 50K warranty. You should check your extended warranty for terms to see if the battery is still covered. Usually on the extended warranty "soft" items are excluded.
IMO, it's worth the 70 to 80 dollars to get the Porsche battery maintainer if you're going to let the car sit for more than a few days in cool or cold weather. Get the one from the dealer that plugs into your cigarette lighter. Piece of cake. FYI - CPO does not cover your battery.
Maybe this is normal to your car, but that's not at all normal behavior for a normal battery! Batteries should last for at least a month before they won't start the car. Either there's something draining your battery or it's time to replace it.
My '99 needed a new battery as well. Previous owner had an Interstate battery in it. Not sure how old it was, but it didn't seem like it was holding a charge well.
Picked up a Deka battery from Papa Autoparts. Fit perfectly.
We'll see how long it lasts.
