Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

29 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone ! I just sold my beautiful 1987 944 Turbo this past saturday ....... However, i picked up this beautiful 1999 911 Carrera as a replacement on Monday ! All i can say is WOW... what a car ! It's been a dream of mine for a very long time to own a 911 and it was worth the wait... I can't stop driving it !! I've attached a picture of the "new shoes" i plan to get for it... i'd also like to look into getting a good exhaust, chip/tune, cold air kit, and whatever else i can get my hands on to bump up the power.. Anyhow, I just wanted to share with you guys and as always it's a pleasure to be a member of such a wonder forum !........ On a sidenote, the driver's side front headlight is a little bit faded.. without spending the cash to replace it, is there any sort of cleaner or anything i can get to make it as clear as the other ?? (do they make such a thing ??) A buddy of mine mentioned it so i thought i'd ask.. the other route i thought about is some headlight tint i saw on ebay.. What do you guys think/recommend ?? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Very nice. Welcome to the fold. Pop on a mkII lip spoiler on her as well. It will make her that much more aggressive looking. C.

POST 3Original post

Congrats on the beautiful car - I'm also contemplating the purchase of a '99 P-car. Did you get any kind of 3rd party warranty? If so, what's the name of the company? Thanks

Thanks ! I will look into that lip spoiler for sure ! You have a beautiful ride man.. Love the black wheels ! Thanks ! I had checked a little into a 3rd party warranty but didn't get one... If you decide to go with one of these cars you'll love it !

POST 5Original post

Thats beautiful. I'm amazed at how new the '99s look. Well taken care of and obviously loved.

POST 7Original post

Great color...............................There is a plastic lens cleaner out there, but I don't know how it will do on the headlight lens. Enjoy, Patrick

Thanks ! and i agree with you on how "new" the 99's look...... Everybody that's seen it thus far can't believe it's a 99... they think it's much newer... even when i had my 87 944 Turbo people thought it was late 90's or so... these cars just don't look dated at all.

Welcome! I sold my '89 944 s2 when I bought my 911! The 944's looked good for their age, but look like antiques compared to the 996 body, IMHO! Your aero equipped 99 looks as good as any modern 997 - and I bet most of the non-Porschefiles couldn't tell a 996 from a 997 anyway! Enjoy the car!

POST 10Original post

Hey! I like that color and body kit Congrats, beautiful car

POST 11Original post

Welcome to the best darn Porsche enthusiasts web site on the planet!! How about some comments on the difference in "feeling" driving the 996 versus the 944.....like does it feel much different throwing into a corner, accelerating etc... enjoy your new baby I can tell you that I love love love love love love love my car!! pete

POST 12Original post

Congratulations w/ your new purchase! What are the vitals: Prices, options, private part or dealer, PPI, etc… Thanks in advance.

POST 14Original post

Congrats...................enjoy and be safe!!

POST 17Original post

You can clean up the headlight lens by a series of very fine sandpaper rubbings - I know it sounds counter-intuitive but it works. Search for a procedure - if you can't find one I have one in the S8 forum.

POST 18Original post

Nice car. Love the side sills. They look great. Might be something I'd like to do someday. Jay

POST 19Original post

Beautiful car! How does the 951 compare with your new 996?

POST 20Original post

Nice ride! TRhanks for posting the pisc. She is a beauty!

POST 21Original post

Very nice, did you own an 87 944 Turbo by any chance?

Well i get about 100X more attention for starters ! My 951 was a fun car.. I remember when I first got it, I couldn't believe how tight the car felt for being 21yrs old... it was a smooth ride... jumping to the 996, it's just that much more.. such a refined, well balanced machine... I haven't gotten to drive it too much as we've had crappy weather in my neck of the woods but today is gorgeous out and i plan to enjoy it ! There's a good possibility I did ! Thanks man ! New shoes are on tap next.. then I will proceed from there !

POST 23Original post

Congratulations. Does the car have limited slip differential? The black wheels will look great. I'd suggest some painted bumperettes rather than the black ones which draw too much attention.

POST 24Original post

Welcome to the 996 club. You're gonna love this car!

POST 25Original post

First thing I noticed when comparing my 944 to the 996 was how much lighter the 996 felt! The steering and braking felt like they were non-assist when I went back into the 944! The 944 definitely felt older and more hand-made if you will.

POST 26Original post

I love the color inside and out, gorgeous car! Enjoy.

POST 28Original post

Color looks great and your 99 looks clean. How many miles?

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5427314

Thanks ! Car had just under 78k miles.. very clean inside and out... I'm figuring out which wheels i want to go with amongst other mods at the moment.. I hope to tend to those needs.. i mean.. wants real soon !!
