Well on the way down the hill all of a sudden the exhaust note changes from nice to rice and I look out my rear view mirror and the exhaust tip plus a little more is bouncing down the side of the road.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

23 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was driving Mount Palomar and the bugger was rattling a little when I pulled off on a scenic view pull out. I just thought it was the clamp that was loose. Well on the way down the hill all of a sudden the exhaust note changes from nice to rice and I look out my rear view mirror and the exhaust tip plus a little more is bouncing down the side of the road. So should I take it to a muffler shop or a weld shop to get the exhaust rrepaired? It actually broke off right at the muffler. I'll post pics later.. TIA. Right before the weld'n Better than new. Thanks again for the weld job, it's perfect. Pleasant to meet you. We'll have to go on a run soon. Arnee? I brought the mixers, you were supposed to bring the vodka.... .

POST 2Original post

is it rusted out... it all depends on the condition. pics would help

POST 3Original post

Palomar Mountain has one of the best roads ever! I lived in San Diego for many years, and made a trip up there every couple months or so. I used to charge up it and have lunch at that little cafe at the top, then I'd charge down the back side of it and head to Julian and back home again. I miss that place..

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It looks like the weld just cracked through, no real corrosion, I'm betting on vibrations... I do have to say it was pretty embarassing to drive around like I had a fart can. Here's more photos of the drive.... https://rennlist.com/forums/off-topic/431249-sunday-drive-on-mount-palomar.html .

POST 8Original post

If you want you can bring it over, I can TG weld it back on for you. I am in Chino hills.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sweet that'd be great. I actually drive the 71 every morning to work. Let me know when you'd be available. Do you like Temecula wine? Or would beer be fine? Thanks for the offer.

POST 10Original post

Hey when do you guys plan on doing it? That's nice of Robin. I'd like to meet both of you.

POST 12Original post

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, Tuesday can work for me. Anytime after 3 will work for me. 4 o'clock sound good? I really appreciate it. Not only for the fact to get it done, but getting to meet more Rennlisters. Thanks again. I'll PM for the address. I'll be driving the hot rod company truck, if it's not in the shop....

POST 14Original post

Can someone PM me the address? Not sure if Robin got my PM. Thanks.

POST 18Original post

Robin, very nice offer on your part! AWESOME!

POST 19Original post

YES! I sent Robin a PM telling him I couldn't make it. My [preggo] wife was craving for something that I had to get... no way I would have made it after getting the food... A little mix-up on my end also as it wasn't clear to me what time and how long you guys were going to be there. I'm no flaker by any means and my wife felt bad that I couldn't go after I told her what my plan was had I been "free." That's very nice of Robin, however... and it looks like an awesome job.

POST 20Original post

Arnie, We didn't think you were a flaker, I was happy you didn't show because I didn't want to share the excellent Merlot with anyone else.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, it was a nice car. I just couldn't believe he let me drive it up the 71 for a couple miles..... you missed out Arnee So Robin, the Merlot was good?
