Come on, I am at able to keep mine clean for a solid 10 mins and then its all downhill...I thought I had learned my lesson, my first German car was a 1996 VW Jetta VR6 (RIP) and she was black on black as well...told myself after that, will never get black again...so, I guess the lesson is to never say never

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

37 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, just wanted to post some pics of my new baby...2003 C4S..just got it a few days ago Long time fan of this site and just warning all of you...a ton of questions on the way... Just ordered my V1 a few hours ago and still trying to figure out if it is worth taking the risk of getting a Blinder installed...I was ready to go until I realized they are illegal in CA...enjoy the pics and look forward to chatting soon.

POST 3Original post

Beautiful car - love the black wheels with the polished lips! I, too, am new to the C4s, and live/die by the V1. Post some interior pics... Congrats!

POST 4Original post

Beautiful, I'm surprised at how good the stock wheels look in that treatment. Now, to slowly start on the slippery slope of modding... May I suggest a silver hood crest? (no affiliation)

POST 6Original post

Nice looking car, watch out for the mod bug it can get expensive!

POST 7Original post

I, too, am new to the C4s, and live/die by the V1. What's a V1?

POST 9Original post

Whatever you do, STEP AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE!!! It will suck cash from you in ways you never dreamed of! Seriously, love the car and welcome aboard (PLEASE send me cash, I couldn't look away!) Tim.

POST 10Original post

Beautiful P-car, but please tell us you didn't get it repaired at Maaco!?!

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 5425671

Valentine 1 radar detector. Congrats on your C4S. I have one as well. It's the best 996 in my opinion.

POST 12Original post

I'm normally not a fan of black wheels but those look fantastic!!

POST 13Original post

I'm starting my hunt for a 996 as well (traded my old one, '02 C2 cab, for an Audi S5 that I am currently selling). Do you mind if I ask how many miles and what you paid?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5425591

Well, I actually want to blackout the car as much as possible so I was thinking of painting the lip on the wheels black as well.....thoughts anyone?

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5425839

Ha ha...no, not repaired at MAACO, thanks for the laugh. I own a MAACO and while we do quality work at a great price, the closest my P car will get to the shop will be the front parking lot. I had to bring it in on a Sunday to get it detailed...I dont want my workers seeing it, they will all ask for a raise!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5426038

Hi Jason, it had 29878 miles on it and I paid 49,900. Not the best and not the worst deal, I live about an hour north of Santa Barbara, CA so there are not too many pre-owned P cars nearby worth looking at. I found this one down in San Diego, a few miles from where my parents live and it had pretty much everything I wanted so I took the leap...and have been smiling ever since

POST 18Original post

Your girlfriend us hot! Think you should keep her!

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 5426193

Your car looks great, congrats on the purchase! In my opinion don't paint the lips, it will look too "donut" spare style on an all black car. The lips break it up a little.

POST 20Original post

Beautiful car! I love how shiny you've got it. What kind of wax are you using? Did you just get it detailed?

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5426882

That was what I was concerned about but I really dig the all black look...so, anyone have any pics or know where I can find any of a black 996 with all black rims?

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5426997

Yes, the detail was finished about 30 seconds before the pictures were taken...detail, pics, back to its storage hole...just four more days until the weekend! As far as the wax, I believe he used Meguiars but not 100% sure...

POST 25Original post

Nice looking ride. Love the color matched twists

POST 26Original post

Really nice! Welcome. I love the color. Wife wouldn't let me get black because she thought I'd wash it after every ride (she's probably right!)

POST 27Original post

well, at least everyone should own a black car once just to learn a lesson. it looks great for that 5 minutes after the wash. congrats. great ride and it's a great car bone stock (with the addition of some sticky rubber and the right compound brake pads)

5 minutes?! POST 30Original post

Nahh, your car looks great. Definitely get the silver crest though.

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 5428151

heh. my first and last black on black car was a 95 Jetta GLX VR6 -----------------------

POST 32Original post

She's nice! Black on black is schweet!! Enjoy her!

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 5426201

Interesting, what is the difference about a MAACO paint job? I assume, masking rather than removing body work. What else? blending, quality of paint, color sand, spray booth quality, attention to detail?

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5433571

Well, every MAACO is independently owned and operated so they will all be different. I would put my crew up against pretty much any other body/paint shop out there. I have some very highly skilled workers that when given the appropriate time, can turn out awesome work...the point is that is not MAACO's game...we are in and out quickly at a good price. Will you find a little overspray, yes, a few specs of dirt, yes, a sanding scratch or two, yes...? Sure but you will also pay $500 for a job versus $1000 somewhere else. When ran correctly, MAACO has a good niche. So, pretty much, you get what you pay for...I make more money painting 30 cars a week at a smaller margin than I would 10 at a higher margin. Plus, owners of fine automobiles are very picky, as they should be and the profits go away when you have to fix things to make them perfect. We dont ever promise anything or say anything will turn out perfect. So, my parents got rear ended in their new Lexus, didnt come to my shop...they wanted to fix a few dents and dings on their Camry, came to MAACO as did my 2001 Pathfinder. Hope that clears it up for you...

POST 35Original post

You have a beautiful C4S - love the rims. I generally don't care for the black rims, but yours really work with your car. Welcome! Bob

POST 36Original post

very nice I also like the rims as is...BTW nice explanation of your business...very professional!
