Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you can get a copy of what was done on the 60K you would have a better idea of what you really want checked on the PPI.
Leading evidence: 'Check on the ppi' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check on the ppi' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. This would knock considerable time off a PPI, but I don't think it should replace a PPI.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Fellas,
I am buying a used 2001 996 C2 and wanted to solicit your input. The current owner recently completed the 60k service and I am curious whether a PPI is necessary given the service was so recent.
Do you know whether the 60k service covers all the same things a PPI would? I am comfortable buying without the PPI as long as I have the comfort of knowing it was recently serviced and all issues were addressed. For example, the RMS was completed at the 60k interval.
Many thanks in advance.
PPI is different from 60K service. PPI looks for bodywork/paint work, will give you a read out from the computer of engine events, compression test, etc.
Do the PPI.
60K service won't tell you:
if the car has been in an accident (that wasn't claimed)
has a bent frame
had a new bumper
has been repainted
has a remanufactured engine
has a broken radio
has dangerous overrevs
etc etc
Get the PPI. [Note: I believe that compression tests are not typically included in PPI down here, they cost extra]

If you can get a copy of what was done on the 60K you would have a better idea of what you really want checked on the PPI. IN our shop a 30, 60, 90K does include a compression test and does include the engine diagnostics. It will include all fluid leaks and brake pad and rotor condition and a pretty thorough inspection. This would knock considerable time off a PPI, but I don't think it should replace a PPI. You are making a big investment, try and protect yourself as much as possible.
Fellas,
Many thanks for your input. I spoke with the service manager and scheduled a PPI for later this week. I will definitely feel more at ease that way. Will definitely post pics once I take possession of the car.
Regards,
