Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Disconnect )' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If it still flashes in the morning and the fluid level is correct, try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the computer and try again.

Suggestion
Chances of this connection getting loose is very slim as it is difficuly to disconnect when you want to.

Suggestion
This connection reports several things to the computer and if it was disconnected, not only would the light flash AND the gauge not read, but your engine would run very ruff especially when cold.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My temp gauge is flashing, after a 180 degree controlled skid in some fresh snow. My temp needle is at the bottom, all the way to the left. It does not read any temp. After searching archives, i came across the possiblities of air in the system and the reccomendation to burb the system. What is this and how do you do it? The coolant level looked ok, engine was warm.
Any thought would be great.
Thanks,
jeff
There are 2 connector that I know of that will turn on the light. One is a 2 wire connector at the bottom of the resoviour tank that reads the level of coolant. This would make the light go on if it read low fluid level. It would not, however, cause the gauge to stay to the left. (even if it was disconnected). The second is a 4 wire connection to the Temperature sending unit located beneath the water hose directly under the air filter box at the back of the engine. This connection reports several things to the computer and if it was disconnected, not only would the light flash AND the gauge not read, but your engine would run very ruff especially when cold. Chances of this connection getting loose is very slim as it is difficuly to disconnect when you want to.
You might just let your car cool down overnight and try in the morning. You may have shock something in the computer and it is just confused. If it still flashes in the morning and the fluid level is correct, try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the computer and try again. It's hard to believe that a violent skid would do any damage to the cooling system.
Look at the coolant expansion tank in the engine compartment. Next to the cap there is a black bleeder valve with a metal ring or bow, lift the bow to vent the cooling system. It's safe to drive around like this for a few days, no worries.
Started up this am, light still blinking. Called the service consultant on the cell phone. As soon as got off the phone, the gauge started working normally. The gauge returned to its usual position just above 180 degrees. This was after about ten miles of driving.
I believe if there is a fault with the sensor the light will flash (or if you are low coolant, duh). Since you were showing no coolant temp and your coolant level was fine, your coolant temp sensor is probably on its way out, or you have a wiring issue.
