Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I clipped a curb. My wheel has about a 1 1/2 gash where the wheel meets the tire. The tire wall has a slight peel, but the pieces did not tear off. I am headed to my mechanic tommorow to let him have a look. Any thoughts? Thanks

POST 2Original post

refinish the rim..tire will probably bleed air slowly depending on the nature of the peel. i did the exact same thing and took a lil chip outta my tire in the process. i just refilled air in the tires every 3 days and kept on going because i had just put a brand new tire on and refused 2 shell out for another one. if u wanna change it, go for it, but for normal driving it didn't turn into a catastrophy for me and after like 3 months i just got fedup of filling in air so i bit the bullet and got a new tire.

POST 3Original post

Did either of you two have any mechanical, axle, driveline damage as a result of hitting the curb so hard? I ask because I am currently having my differential/transaxle changed (very loud howl sound and diagnosed as this problem by three separate p-car specialists). I wacked my right rear tire pretty hard, actually broke a small bit off the rim, then I started to hear the noise. now car in shop! thanx, Peter

POST 4Original post

I just did the same thing to my wheels. After $100.00, it was as good as new. PM me if you want the number to the guy that I used, he's located in MD.

POST 5Original post

I smacked a curb and bent my rear crossmember. I didn't know it until a Porsche shop was looking at the car for something else. The car drove perfectly normal. My rim had a pretty big gouge out of the paint on it, but the tire was fine. Damn Boston and the dirt-covered curbs in the winter...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you. My mech. confirmed tire is ok, the wheel has a nice gash, but no damage except cosmetic. Thanks again for the comments. Drive safe, and Happy Thanksgiving!! Gary
